Re: Mirena Panic Attacks

I am so sorry that this has happened to you. I will like start by saying that your doctor did the right thing by prescribing the antidepressants. The ssri's are also used to minimize the effects of a panic attack. This new found fear of death may be due to the hormones but even if you remove the Mirena, it doesn't necessarily mean that you will stop having panic attacks. See the problem is, now your brain has been trained to have this irrational fear and regardless of what the initial fear was, now you're afraid to have another panic attack. The great news is that there's hope! You can retrain your brain and get off the antidepressants. Continue with therapy, meds, and have Mirena removed. There are some great tools online to minimize your anxiety. You have to challenge yourself. This will not be easy. But I promise you won't regret it. I wish you much luck and peace. I hope this helps.
