COM-100 tester ????????

I got my COM-100 tester. Can anyone tell me which mode it should be in to test CS? Does it need to be calibrated? I read on SP site that it didn't (I think). I made some CS yesterday and the light would not even come on (on auto). After 6 hours (the nodes did not even change color) I turned it on manual and the light came on and with in a few hours the nodes turned black. Now I would like to test the CS to find out the PPMs.

uS/KCL is the standard for measuring electrical conductivity . Thats really all you need. I think the other modes are there to try and provide better ppm conversions in various solutions but you should avoid using ppm conversions and just stick to uS.
Use the uS/KCL mode for measuring CS and water. In CS its simply a 1:1 conversion. 1uS equals 1 ppm.
You can experiment with other modes, but this is the one that is recommended for CS. It will read ppm directly without any conversion. Whatever the display says, that is your CS ppm . The reading will decline in about 24 hours. This is normal. You can re-brew your batch if you want to bring the ppm back up.

On the light not coming on until you put it on manual the only way this would happen is if the PPM or conductivity of the water was already greater than the generators automatic shut-off. This's happened to me once or twice when I've made CS out of tap water for plants (not wasting good distilled water on them). I'd check the quality of your water, which should be distilled.

This is a reply to # 84,667It was distilled. Maybe I should try another brand. I do have the tester now, so I will test the water first. What should the water read? I tested some drinking water, Aquafina, I think and it tested at 2.2 uS KCI mode.

This is a reply to # 84,672just pick up some good distilled water in walmart, pathmark, etc mine always reads 0 PPM before I start my batch2.5 hrs later Iam up to 6 PPM. I believe the slower the better, it just etches the nano particles of silver into the water. slow, slow, slow. but iam also using stright high voltage 120volt AC
