NO shame on you. It is difficult enough to swim
against the tide for ourselves and there is a
strong chance that even with your best arguments,
your mother may have chosen the path most taken,
the path which leads to the pedestals that people
put the medical community up on. Of course, just
above them sit the pharmaceutical reps and so goes
the story of how a true calling to heal has become
adulterated.
Years ago, before internet was so pervasive, I had
to go to court and fight for my right against claims
by an insurance company that I refused to medicate
myself effectively to effect management of a disorder
which was not life threatening. I spent days and many
hours scouring medical libraries and databases in order
to win my right to refuse the medication which was
in effect a hook into the system of creating the
illusion of health where one problem is replaced
by many more. Many people choose to trust in the very
people who have the power to heal or harm and in too
many cases, are not as careful as I in managing their
own health care. They abdicate in the hope that their
trust will pay off. The drop in the bucket of those
who succumb to the medical machine is barely heard.
This is not to say that medical intervention does
not have its place. Its to say that we who seek out
those who will help us maintain our health and who
have an interest in keeping you off the fast track
to collecting prescriptions IS the path least taken.
We are the lucky ones, and now, one by one, we are
the seeds of hope and keeping CHOICE alive.
In my own experience, I have watched my neighbor who
had insurance and so had a well-beaten path to a doctor
and went season by season, always battling infection
after infection. One bottle of Olive leaf broke the
cycle, and she has never looked back. She made ZERO
trips to the doctor last year~! She has told others
that there is an alternative path to wellness, and others
have told others. The best we can do is plant seeds
for others and hope for the best. I cannot tell you
how many bottles of Olive Leaf and
Essiac I have
shared over the years, but I do it because someone
showed me compassion and a different way, and thus
my meager effort to "pay it forward"...
Yes, your mother might have chosen the path of most
resistance...we will not know. What her story does
do is motivate you to reclaim and keep your own health.
To inspire others to fight for the right to work with
alternatives to the pills and potions that laboratories
design and produce...through you, she lives yet.
I wish you well on your healing journey.
blessings,
Zoe
