I have 3 nine volt batteries in series (red-to-black) and two pure silver electrodes. So how do I measure the concentration of the silver colloid? Is there a non-light light test? You know, one that won't turn the silver black or knock it out of solution by light exposure but will gauge the concentration by light penetration? Ultraviolet? Infrared? I just use the silver water maker for about three minutes in distilled water because it takes a long time to start "cooking" in distilled water with no salt. So it's only actively going for about thirty seconds. Any ideas as to how to measure concentration? Test strips? Is this an O.K. way to make silver colloid on the cheap? This is a reply to # 83,710you must be using pure, distilled water. so pure you could use it in an IV. you are using water that has impurities in it, or you wouldnt be getting the white clouds in a few seconds. sounds like chlorinated tape water making silver choride. dont drink that stuff.
you need to read and educate yourself. if you will look over my posts here, i have detailed instructions on how to do just that, make cs with nine volt batteries. but mainly, you need to read so you can avoid some of the pitfalls. there arent that many, but they are important enough to read over several times and searching this site is a good way to do that.- Re: How do I measure concentration w... steve555

This is a reply to # 83,711Ditto what Trapper said. You are making something other than true electro-colloidal if you're adding salt. That is a no-no. Yes it's speeds up the process but you end up with cloudy impure CS that is not as effective as the clear ionic CS. It is worth the wait to make the real stuff. Here is a tip. Make your usual amount of CS without the salt. It may take a few hours but that is ok. When it is done save 1/4 of it as starter for your next batch. You have CS much faster this way and it will be pure, clear CS with no white clouds. Clouds are bad. In an emergency if I had nothing else I would drink dark or cloudy CS. But why drink CS with impurities in it when you can have the good stuff? Hope that helps.

This is a reply to # 83,713you are so right, steve. i was working under duress last night and missed the meaning of the salt thing. sodium chloride will definitely give you silver cloride, which is what he was describing. and hurry? well, you can serve no CS before its time, thats for sure.
this salt thing has to be a plant out in the info stream to keep people from getting the good stuff, dont you think? no well meaning person could pass that info along, yet here this person has picked it up and ran with it.
BEWARE! pure water, pure silver, in glass, using 30volts DC. anything else is not good.

This is a reply to # 83,710Also make sure if you are using aligator clips that these clips do not touch the water. ( i have seen someone doing this ) They were using the right water and the right silver but letting the clips actually sit in the water causing the metal itself to erode into the batch. ( they were rusted even ) That I concluded was teh reason the batches were all cloudy.
When I put them out of the water and made a sort of bridge- everything was fine and turned a pale yellow color.- Re: How do I measure concentration w... ginseng007

This is a reply to # 83,724I personally use .99999 but thats me. they are expensive, but no heavy metals are present in this purity. I know of one mfg who has in New Jersey. that has this purity.

This is a reply to # 83,738Personally I recommend the Hanna PWT as does Silvergen.com CS generators company. The PWT is more accurate than the others because it measures from 0-100um . The PWT is pricier at $55 but will give you a much tighter indication of what you are really producing. Silvergen has a ratio that helps you convert conductivity to ppm. The PWT measures conductivity which relates very closely to ppm by about 2 points or so.

This is a reply to # 83,738got mine on ebay for 15.00 dollars. it should read .000 when you get it. test distilled water, shoudl still read .000 or .001 still good. keep maching one till you get desired PPM .005-.020 etc. what ever you need.
