Hi joylovepeace (love your online name!)
I've kept a medical diary for the last 4 years and here's the snapshot of those months....
2002 - Numerous infections, 4 courses of antibiotics, onset of menopause, severe fatigue increasing throughout the day. Had full blood tests in September, the only oddity, my TSH was 6.0, just outside of normal range. Dr. recommends 15 mg. a day of Armor Thyroid. After only a few days nausea ensues and worsens as the weeks go by. Cut dosage in half, still nausea. Dr. changes prescription to .025 of Synthroid on 10/18. This is the lowest dose they make. Nausea worsens, tingling starts in fingertips and toes. Called Manufacturers of both meds looking for info. Am told by both to be checked for Adrenal Insufficiency. TSH is now only at 2.5 so it is not likely hyPERthyroidism.
Abbott Labs recommends discontinuing meds, which we taper off and discontinue. By 11/11 heart is pounding 24 hours a day, eyes and head twiching uncontrollably, head tremors, intolerance to temperature, tingling in all extremities, nausea, vomiting, BP above normal, cannot sleep more than a few minutes, then jolted away, extreme sensitivity to light or sound of any kind, skin and muscles of entire body feel like they are being electrified pulsating into head like a 'head rush' in 10-15 second intervals. Completely bedridden. Dr. does not believe I have adrenal problems, tells me that ACTH stimulation tests are not done anymore (which proves false). We call many local doctors and hospital and are told 'no one performs these".
IT WAS ONLY MUCH LATER, WE REALIZED MY ADRENALS WERE MOST LIKELY IN THE CLASSIC 'ALARM STATE' AS DESCRIBED BY HANS SELYE'S RESEARCH AND AS DESCRIBED IN DR. POESNECKER'S BOOK Chronic Fatigue Unmasked 2000.
