Hello again....
I have another question. It may have been asked and answered somewhere in the past, but there are so many pages to read - I just can't read them all with my schedule the way it is.
Does anyone know how oil pulling would possibly effect one's cholesterol?
What about consuming the oils? Do we know what effect the oils have on our cholesterol oils?
What specifically even about coconut oils?
If there is a place where this is posted and anyone knows about it I'd appreciate the link.
Thanks....carea
Hi Molly,
Thank you for answering me. Sorry for the delay, I can't get on that often. I am interested in the information you have given me and I will check out the link. Thanks for looking it up.
Last 2 years my cholesterol total number was good, but my good cholesterol was low. I'm actually getting my blood taken tomorrow and I was just wondering if the OP would have any effect. I hope it has a good effect.
From other places I've read here on CZ I understand that it is best to get the diet in good shape before cleansing, and that is what I'm working on. I still have to read a lot more about cleansing before I try. I think I will probably try the Master Cleanse first, as was suggested to me for my sister on an earlier post. But I'm not quite ready yet.
Thanks so much for your time and support. I really appreciate you...c
Hi Amato,
My total cholesterol came back at 161. I don't have the breakdown with me, I left it at work, but my good cholesterol is still on the low side. 1 year ago my total cholesterol was 159, but that small fluctuation does not mean much to me. What is funny is that for some strange reason I had a strong craving for liverwurst and ate it 4 days in a row before I had my cholesterol checked. This is not something I eat often, maybe only once a year. I've read that liver is very high in cholesterol. I think that my cholesterol is pretty stable.
I do believe that oil pulling is helping me in many ways. I have had different sensations in the muscles of my face, neck and upper chest, feelings like you might have in your muslces when they are very tight and need to be massaged. When these feelings are strong I feel like I need to oil pull again and also massage these areas at the same time. It almost seems like the oil and the oil pulling action is drawing stuff out of the mouth. The oil pulling has so many good effects for me that I also plan on continuing this treatment with no plans of stopping.
Thank you for your posts & peace to you....c
Did you by any chance read the links below posted by Squeakyclean? I've read some and it is very interesting that some research shows that people with higher cholesterol levels enjoy better health...What is UC? thanks...c
Hey, here's some alternative reading for you. The body produces its own cholesterol and recycles it, so eaten cholesterol is not the main factor in high cholesterol. Also the whole theory on cholesterol and heart disease is a THEORY and apparently a faulty one. None of it is about oil pulling, though.

Hi Laughingrrl!
Thank you for you post! I am very interested in what you wrote. About 2 weeks ago my husband and I made a joint decision to cut back on the amount of red meat we eat. We've been eating fish mostly since then since he is not a big chicken eater. I could proabably easily go vegan most of the time, but he is not interested in going that far. We have made other healthy changes to the diet, but I still have a sweet tooth that I have to battle. I need to drop some weight and so I'm working on eating more vegetables and a little fruit a day. When I first started this a few weeks ago I was trying to eat a total of 10 fruits and vegetables a day. After doing this for 2-3 days I had my doctors appointment, and my normally very clean tongue was covered with a white film and I was feeling so sluggish I wanted to go to sleep. She probably wondered what I meant when I told her that oil pulling gave me energy...the next time I oil pulled it ALL went away...and of course I've cut back on the fruit quite a bit. I know I need to cleanse. I want to read that book "The Shangri-La Diet," sounds interesting to me!
So...are you saying that - even though VCO is supposedly a saturated fat - that it will not cause you to have cholesterol problems? I know...I must sound terribly confused to all of you who know so much about the oils. I am like a baby learning to walk here. I would like to buy a book on oils if anyone can suggest a good one.
Thank you for your posts - I'm really learning a lot from you - and it may sound funny but I think of you in the mornings when I'm using the VCO for deodorant, and at night when I'm putting it on my face. It is good to put on your face isn't it?...:) thanks...c
Hi Laughingrrl!
Thank you for your wonderful post! That is so interesting and informative that I am saving it.
Again I want to say that I apologize for not being able to get on-line sooner, and I can't stay on long tonight.
I think of you and everyone a lot and I love this forum!
I like the way the VCO seems to work on my face and other areas. I've not been eating too much of it yet, I think I want to get a different brand to do that. Did you dad lose weight because of the VCO? What else was he doing at the same time?
On another subject - I mentioned this before briefly but want to mention again that I am drinking water after oil pulling and cleaning my mouth - and I've gone up to two 16 ouncebottles of water after a pull. I drink them pretty quickly and one right after the other, and I have found that I don't go to the bathroom for almost 2 hours. This is a good sign for me because usually I would have the urge to go very often after drinking even a little water. I believe the body is doing something different after oil pulling...what do you think? Have you tried this and do you or anyone have the same experience?
Thanks again for you replies!....c
