Wow. This is almost exactly what just happened to me. I was diagnosed Friday with HSV2. My girlfriend is showing no symptoms at all but here was the weird part that I couldn't figure out. When I got my very first symptom it was apparently a blister that had broken and was now just an open sore. I thought I had cut myself shaving or something and showed it to her. She thought it looked like an ingrown hair. We had unprotected sex that night and thought it was nothing to be concerned over. Neither of us had ever had any symptoms of Herpes before, so it was the furthest thing from our mind. A few days later when I started to get worse, with some pretty bad swelling and a few small blisters appearing in a cluster I got really worried and went to a doctor. She said it looked like it might be folicalitis and prescribed an antibiotic to fight the infection. She also said that it was possible it could be herpes but they needed to do a swab to be sure.
I was very concerned about my girlfriend who has been amazingly supportive through all of this and we both agreed that she needed to get tested so we could make sure she was OK. Her results came back friday as well and it was negative, however her doctor told her that she did have a yeast infection. She also started her menstual cycle on saturday. Two weeks after her last one. She is normally like clockwork with her cycle and thought that it could just be from all of the stress from this but now I am wondering if that is the case.
I know this may be me holding on to a single strand of hope, It is at all possible that my test could be wrong? I would think they are pretty accurate when they do a culture... I mean it grows or it doesnt grow.... Right?
