Helen and group, Hi Greetings

I have been lurking, reading and deleting. I am a Herbalist of over 10 years and 2 years ago I was diagnosed with testicular cancer. I refused surgery/chemo/radiation and have been taking 714X, Hoxsey formula, Vitamin C and following a healthy Diet (And exploring new possibilities).

The largest the cancer was recorded by ultrasound was 3.4cm my last ultrasound (In February) the cancer was 1.9 cm, that is a 1.5 cm difference. The Urolgist told me I'd be dead within a year if I don't go for surgery. I am ALIVE and healthier than I have ever been (execpt I have cancer:-) Helen the white willow (Salix alba) is the tree you are thinking of. Salix, is classical Latin for willow. The primary healing agent in willow is salicin, an intermediate form of salicylic acid.

(Salicin was offically listed in the United States Pharmacopoeia from 1882 to 1926. ) Today Americans consume over 200 million asprin tablets daily. Commercial asprin, acetyl-saliclic acid, is chemically synthesized in a process involving sodium hydroxide and phenol. Side effects of commercial aspirin range from minor stomach bleeding (each time a tablet is taken) to asthma, rashes, dizzines, and death. (About 2000 people die a year from aspirin in Britan alone).

But we are living in an age where drug companies fund almost half of all medical research. Any info that runs contrary to the drugs manufactured is often squlched and is never published. Did you read the study in British Journal of Cancer (Jan. 7, 2002) exlporing the risks of tricyclic antidepressants. Those shown to more than double breast-cancer risk include:amoxapine (brand name Asendin), clomipramine (Anafranil), desipramine(Norpramin) and trimipramine (Surmontil and Rhotrimine). For those in the study who took tricyclic medications, Breast Cancer did not show up until 11 to 15 years afterword. I think it is safe today to say drugs tend to cause cancer. Prevention of Breast Cancer may also be the cure. Whole foods diet, positive mental attitude, healthy exercising , nurturing relationships, cleansing, and supplements may just be the answer to this riddle. In pill form, CoQ10, a good multi vitamin and mineral and some healthy oils. Green tea, clean water, coffee (I wish), and juices offer protection.
"The Uncommon Touch" by Tom Harpur is a great book. I just finished it.

Five months after the doctor began her bioenergy treatments, the child had gained near-normal levels of healing. Another case involved a young man whose hearing had been almost totally destroyed by excessive amounts of streptomycin administered when he was only two years old. She said, ‘On his fourth visit for bioenergy therapy I was truly moved when he came in and told me, ‘Doctor, I can hear again! I can hear water running in the bathroom; I can hear my mother making dinner; I can hear dogs barking.’


Could anything be more atisfying and rewarding?"


Bioenergy healing, and the above healthy tools will replace the present disease care system ~ it's a matter of time.

Strong Inverse Link Between Breast Cancer and NSAID Use

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Apr 08 - There is "compelling and converging
evidence" that regular use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
inhibits the formation and growth of breast tumors, Dr. Randall E. Harris of
Ohio State University told Reuters Health.


The latest evidence comes from the Women's Health Initiative (WHI), a large
prospective study of more than 80,000 postmenopausal women who had no
history of cancer at baseline and who provided comprehensive health
information including data on Breast Cancer risk factors and use of aspirin,
ibuprofen and other NSAIDs.


During an average follow-up of 4 years, 1392 developed breast cancer. In
analyses researchers noted a statistically significant inverse linear trend
between Breast Cancer and the duration of NSAID use (p < 0.01).


Taking two or more NSAID tablets per week (aspirin, ibuprofen, or related
compounds) for 5 to 9 years reduced the risk of breast cancer by 21%.
Extending NSAID use to 10 years or more led to an even greater risk
reduction of 28%.


Specifically, "aspirin had about a 22% risk reduction effect and ibuprofen
had a 49% risk reduction effect," Dr. Harris said. The result with ibuprofen
is "striking," he told Reuters Health.


Importantly, the protective effect held in analyses adjusting for age and
other breast cancer risk factors, including high body mass index, estrogen
use, family history, parity, and exercise.


These reductions were achieved with standard doses of these compounds
(aspirin, 325 mg and ibuprofen, 200 mg). Regular use of low-dose aspirin
(<100 mg) did not lower the risk of breast cancer.


"Interestingly, we did not see an effect for acetaminophen," Dr. Harris told
Reuters Health, probably because acetaminophen does not block
[cyclooxygenase-2] COX-2, which is blocked by aspirin and ibuprofen. "COX-2
is the trigger for inflammation and I believe inflammation is a major
component of carcinogenesis," he said. COX-2 is overexpressed in most human
breast carcinomas.


These findings "set the stage" for clinical trials of selective COX-2
blockade in cancer prevention and therapy, he added.


Dr. Harris was scheduled to present the findings during the American
Association for Cancer Research's 94th Annual Meeting in Toronto this week,
but the meeting was postponed due to the outbreak of severe acute
respiratory syndrome (SARS).

Aspirin is the conversion of salicyclic acid to acetylsalicyclic acid (ASA). I quote from an article about its over- and long-term use:

"Large doses cause acid-base imbalance and respiratory disturbances and can be fatal, especially in children. Acetaminophen (known by trade name Tylenol), which does not cause gastric irritation but does lower fever and relieve pain, is often substituted for Aspirin"]

I believe a lot of long-term users suffer from stomach and/or digestive problems such as ulcers, irritation, etc.

For the prevention and treatment of breast cancer, there is another natural and healthy product - flax hull lignans. They have been found to be very effective in reducing malignant and non-malignant tumours in breast cancers from tests done over the past 2 years.

They are much better since they are naturally produced without any manufacturing or chemical processes. In addition there are no additivies, preservatives , coloring or artificial ingredients addded. I know a natural practicioner who recommended that a client with Breast Cancer take 18 aspirin per day, she did, and her lump went away. He then extracted the salicyclic acid from aspirin (so the blood thinning problem wouldn't be a question ) and I took that product when I had Breast Cancer (after my surgery). The molecule involved is in the same family of molecules as the active cancer-fighting ingredient in apricot pits (laetrile), grape seeds, and other potent antioxidants.

Another related molecule is in certain mistletoes - used in Europe against cancer for a long time. some of these have Sugar attached to the molecule, which cancer sucks up, and bites the Sugar off, so the antioxidant can explode in the cancer cell.
