brasscupcakes
Hi, I'm new to this particular forum but I'm on a raw diet and I eat raw fish (and will soon try raw meat).
So far as sashimi goes -- make your own! I know, I know, it's not going to look as pretty as it does in the sushi place but I just cut myself about four
oz. of fresh salmon with a very sharp knife, dipped it in soy sauce (I know soy isn't raw, I tried bragg's liquid aminos, but I'm out of braggs) and wasabi which you can buy in a huge sack in ethnic markets for $12 (or a small can for about four but it's a really really small can). Anyhow, it was delicious and is ridiculously easy to digest.
Plus, if you want it to look pretty, there are a million sushi books out there. I actually do make sushi (without rice, obviously) using sheets of nori, avocado, cucumber, scallions, untoasted sesame sees and the raw fish. And I'm psyched because one of the local fishmarkets I found has yellowtail, which is my favorite, for $4.99 a pound (whole, not filleted but still).
(I know soy is not raw but I'm out of braggs liquid aminos)
I'm kind of disapppointed to hear this is really a paleo forum cause I was really hoping for more information on raw meat, that's why I'm here. Once you get past steak tartare and carpaccio, there's the end of my ideas.
Very curious about raw poultry cause the texture gives me the willies although I do feed it to our dogs who are also raw eaters.
Any advice would be appreciated!
