Nancy, I appreciate your attempt at an answer. It was very well thought out and an accurate portrayal of what you believe. But let me try one more thing to get you to understand what I'm asking:
Let's play like I hate the New York Yankees. I hate derek Jeter, I hate Alex Rodrigiez, I hate Joe Torre. (This is not true, only an example)
Now let's make a correlation to abortion. Even though I hate the Yankess, why or how in the world could it be possible that I would stand up and cheer at the top of my lungs when they win the World Series? And In essense, that's what you're doing. You may not admit it but there are millions of women in this country who would burn down whole cities if Roe-v-Wade got overturned. The passion on the left for abortion is spellbinding. Maybe "giddy" is the wrong word, but there's some kind of lure that makes people like you post on a forum like this with high emotions. Many on your side would fight to the death for abortion to be legal. That is what I meant by my wording.
So here it is again phrased differently:
When pro-choicers see a visual representation of abortion, many get repulsed and offended by what they see....often times even berating the person who dared to post such a terrible image. My question is...how can one stand up for something that -- by their own interpretation -- is offensive, disgusting and wrong?
How can they hate the Yankees yet stand up and cheer when they win the World Series? It's the same question re-worded. How can you CHEER (fight)for abortion, yet hate the ACT?
Not only is this HIGHLY hypocritical, but it just makes no sense.

About the pictures and videos: because they are MANIPULATIVE and DECEPTIVE.
People who are reading this board who are possibly considering abortion, and who have never had one, will look at those pictures and videos and believe that EVERY abortion is done this way, WHEN THAT IS NOT THE TRUTH. This is the same as lying to someone. Instilling FEAR by FALSE INFORMATION in women and girls just so they will not have an abortion.

Again, that is not the truth in the majority of cases. FEAR by FALSE INFORMATION. Have YOU ever had an abortion? Then how would YOU know? This is the same as lying to someone.

I fight against people trying to manipulate, control, and judge others. Everyone has their own choice. This is a reply to # 707,140I understand that YOU BELIEVE that everyone has a choice, but that is still not my question. My question is how YOU can fight for something that is personally repulsive to YOU...(assuming that it is). How can you Cheer for the Yankees when you HATE them? How can you enjoy broccoli when you hate it? How can you love reading Oprah's magazine when you hate Oprah? How can you marry a person you hate? How can you vote for President Bush when you HATE him? This is not about other people. This is a highly personal question about what's INSIDE YOU. I hate killing babies so I vote against abortion. Do you hate killing babies or not?
And you say the images are manipulative and deceptive....well what if Fox news showed a live abortion -- including graphic images of a freshly-killed corpse -- on the evening news? Would you call THAT manipulative and deceptive? Would the blood be real enough for you then? I could just imagine the screaming coming from Planned Parenthood if that were to ever happen! They would HATE what they saw (or what they thought others saw), yet scream for its acceptance!

And abortion is not "killing babies". A fetus is not yet a baby.
The videos of abortions that have been shown on this board are Late Term Abortions, a type of abortion that is so rare that it's ALMOST NEVER DONE, that's why showing them as if they're common, is manipulative and deceptive.

This is a reply to # 707,171You know in a sense you are right. When I wrote that post I ASSUMED that most people (even pro-choicers) would be horrified by pictures of burned/slashed/stabbed babies.
However, I'm learning on here that this is not necessarily the case. Many of you on the left side of the isle are colder and more morally dispicable than I had originally imagined.
As for my original post, I stand by it: It was an attempt to get any pro-choicer who is disturbed by the visual evidence to simply explain HOW they can be so passionate over something that so disturbs them.
This is not rocket science. I still have not had an answer. All I've had is people tell me they're NOT DISTURBED! ....which simply sidesteps the issue.

This is a reply to # 707,180You have been answered over and over again and you obviously aren’t capable of seeing the complexity of this issue. Your argument gets weaker every time you open your mouth… or tap your keyboard.
As you’ve been told several times in several different threads – in several different ways – pictures like that have been taken to shock the viewer – and are not a true depiction of MOST abortions. You have chosen an extreme – that is very rare and only done to save the life of the mother. No one wants to be in a position to make a decision like that and when they are – they certainly don’t want dumb *****’s like you making the decision for them. When you talk about right to life – when do you think that right to life ends? Does it end if you happen to be female and reach child bearing age?
My question to you is - are you one of those guys who sits at his computer and talks big about saving lives of unborn children - or are you someone who is willing to roll up his sleeves and try to figure out how we can reduce the need for abortions and how can we take care of the unwanted children who are born every day all over the world.
I’ve been reading some of your posts… and they are just too silly to comment on. Sorry - this is a waste of time.

I've never heard of a pro-choice person bombing a womens clinic. I think you are referring to the pro-life crowd when it comes to violence.

This is a reply to # 707,157See what you don't realize is that I actually sit down and TEACH my kids about life. We get together on a nightly basis right before bedtime and have little chats about the GLORY of life that God gave us -- and how to make the most of it. I teach them about doing their best, about treating others kindly, about telling the truth, about how to make something of their lives, about responsibility and about love. Abortion is none of these...which is why (I believe) it won't be on their radar when they get older.
You are right about one thing though, my faith has done a number on me. I used to be an empty shell...but now I'm full of life and vigor, full of motivation and thirst for all that life has to offer. I'm no longer fearful of getting old or getting sick or dying because I know where my destination is. It's a powerful sense of inner peace that has transformed my life. S

This is a reply to # 707,139To me an abortion is less invasive then let’s say getting your appendix out. The pictures you are referring to as was said earlier was of late term abortions. Yes they look bad, but I think it’s worse if both the mommy and baby die then if only the baby dies. Obviously you would rather they both die, because that’s what would most likely happen. Explain the logic in that? You answer a question for a change.
Other than that, pictures of real abortions, done in the first weeks aren’t any worse then seeing any pictures of operations.
Your analogy with the Yankees is just silly because they didn’t infringe on anyone’s freedom to win. It’s really not comparable at all, but your mind won’t be able to grasp this, so I’m just wasting my time here.

I can tell you're getting fatigued. You are certainly a trooper. I commend you for that at least!
But no, I have to disagree with your assessment of me. I DON'T think its better if mommy dies with baby. If there is a severe medical issue, then many (not all) of us pro-lifers would understand the necessity. (This is a very slippery slope, though)
Your next statement -- though delicately worded -- simply skirts around my orginal point. Follow me now...this may open a mental window for you. I'll try to make it very simple.
Someone on here said (it may have been you) that there is a certain percentage of pro-choicers who would never themselves have an abortion due to certain moral or personal reasons. This is the group I'm specifically talking to. These are the people -- because of their moral or personal reasons -- who would probably be most likely to be horrified by visions of photographs and videos of gruesome abortions.
You sound like someone who is not in the least bit phased by this. If this is true, then you are disqualified as well.
(By the way, I noted your reference to aborting young fetuses. It's true that they would probably make less of a bloody mess than an older child, but I hear absolutely NO calls from your side of the fence to limit abortion in ANY way. It's for that reason we cannot limit our discussion to early-term abortions....abortions are still happening at all stages of pregnancy.)

I actually told you why in another post that you obviously didn't read well. But I will tell you again.
My side, as you put it, will not stand against any abortion becasue once you stand up against it and make it illegal in some cases then you have a very big problem and are limiting choice (FOR THE LAST TIME WE DON'T FIGHT FOR ABORTION WE FIGHT FOR CHOICE I don't know why that is too hard for your mind to grasp). If lets say late term abortions were made illegal, except in the case when the mommy is going to die, determined by cause A B or C, in which she can have an abortion. Then it would have to go through Burocracy where a group of men like you would sit around and decide the fate of the woman. This is a reply to # 707,165I see what you're saying that calling for an end to late term abortions, for instance, would lead to a slippery slope for you guys. But let's think about this:
Recently the FDA banned Vioxx, an arthritis/pain relief drug. The reason was that it was shown to contribute SOME men to having heart attacks. Did it cause EVERY man to have a heart attack? No, some men seem to tolerate the drug just fine. However, the FDA shut the whole drug program down BECAUSE OF IT'S IMPLICATIONS ON A SMALL GROUP.
The reality is, this abortion procedure is not only terminating young fetuses, but it's also brutally murdering babies who are near fully developed, often viable human beings. Many on your side are most certainly queasy about late-term abortions, yet you do nothing and say nothing because it could have disastrous results on your agenda. So the murdering continues without a peep. This is WAY worse than anything Vioxx did, because men taking this drug were certainly warned of it's implications ahead of time. If for no other reason, this procedure should be eliminated simply to save the lives of viable human beings living in the womb.
