I've done several sustained fasts and with the exception of my first 30 day fast (had a Burger King Whopper within 4 days--ACCCKKK), I broke all of them by NOT eating ANYTHING cooked, for approximately the same amount of time the fast was... for example, if I did a 30 dayer, for the next 30 days I ate raw. If I did a 2 weeker, the next 2 weeks were raw... then I gradually, ever so slowly added the cooked foods and I swear, the difference showed up immediately.
The moment I ate the cooked foods, the stomach gurgling began, the cramps, and MY MOODS plummeted and went way way way out of whack! Within days I began gaining and the bowels began rebelling...
This recent 34 day fast that I did, I stayed on raw and am still eating raw (almost 2 months later) and I have not had any problems at all, no stomach gurglings, no cramps, no bowel rebellion, no weight gain (weight loss actually)... And my moods are upbeat and emotionally STRONG.
I don't know if it was the extra 4 days (I usually stop at 30 days) or what... but this recent fast I did (34 days) really showed me the connection between moods/attitudes and COOKED foods. And as such, if I can help it at all, I will not eat cooked foods again.
Right now, I am about 90% to 100% raw.
I do believe that if you come off a fast and immediately go back to the same foods and dietary habits you had prior to your fast, you will undo very quickly all the detoxing that occurred when on the fast. Actually, it really doesn't matter how long it takes someone to go back to the same old same old SAD diet, the effects of the fast will deteriorate and bring the body back into the same sorry state it was in prior to a fast. It depends on the body that will determine how quickly this occurs. For some people, the negative effects show up immediately, for others, it's slower... but it still leads right back to the same toxified body as before a fast. Remember we are what we eat regardless of how quick or how slow the negative changes occur after detoxing and going back to the sorry Standard American Diet.
