I have just recently discovered after research on these forums and visiting a new dentist that I am most probably suffering from TMJ. I have all the classic symptoms but the one I am most concerned about is the severe burning, tingling, neuralgic type headache. I was hoping to hear from other sufferers if this type of headache is consistent with this disorder. I have jaw pain, toothache, ringing ear, ear crackling when I swallow and sometimes numbness at side of mouth and eye. I have had mild forms of these symptoms intermittently for a long time steadily becoming worse. I have been told by this new dentist that I should have been referred to a TMJ specialist years ago. I also know that I have wear an tear in my neck. After reading your posts I will certainly be looking for a chiroprator who can hopefully help. I am hoping to hear back from you regarding the headache as it is constant.

This is a reply to # 623,670I too suffer from TMJ, on both sides, had headaches daily, almost to the point they could be called migraines, and had a constand jaw ache. My dentist said that it showed on an x-ray that I had trauma on my right side but the left felt worse. I finally broke down and went to a chiropractor, my neck looked like a backward S, he did some adjusting for a couple weeks and haven't had a jaw or headache since!! Sure wish I would have seen him a few years ago!!

This is a reply to # 623,674Totally forgot I had posted this. Thanks for your reply. I went to a physiotherapit/osteopath/acupuncturist on Friday and had a mixture of the three treatments rolled into one. It was an experience! Hopefully in a few weeks I will be telling my own success story.

I hear you and know how your feel. I am exactly the same, though have only suffered for 3 years. Depression is a major symptom - However, I can tell you that there are things I have done which have *improved* this...
These are:
1) Do this program

I have been doing this for 6 weeks now, and though i'm not cured things have improved. I am continuing on this program for months to come, as my body has been under alot of stress so I know this can only help.
2) Get a splint (im guessing you already have one)
3) Go to a kinesiologist monthly or something that relaxes you!
4) Im currently waiting on my sample of Theraflex TMJ - i'll let you know how this goes!
5) Don't give up - i know it's hard, and you've had it longer than me so I completely understand !

This is a reply to # 623,670I feel your pain and am very sorry that you have discovered that you have TMJ. I also have headaches that accompany my TMJ, and they are awful. I began putting warm compresses on my head and trigger points in order to ease my pain...but it was getting too frustrating to hold it up for a long time. I looked online and found a great product that really helps me out. I've used this product for the past couple of months called the IceCaddy. It's a velcro sling that goes around my head and lets me warm my neck completely hands free. It has two pouches and comes with two packs for your convenience. You can position the IceCaddy so it goes directly onto your problem areas. It should really help you out.
