I'm sorry Tom, I wish I could. I got the info. from my daughter who read it in a newspaper and relayed it to me several years ago. This was after I had started to cure myself by smoking.
What happened was I had been ill for 7 years with UC and the only way I could go anywhere was if I didn't eat anything after lunch the day before. One day I ran into a old client and told her about my problem and it turned out that she and 2 of her neighbours had had the same experience. They had all quit on the same day and started bleeding from the bowel within 2 weeks. Two of them quit the medication (a sulfer compound which seemed to make things worse) and started smoking again and their health improved, the UC went away. My old client only smokes one a day but if she quits, the UC comes back.
The woman who continued with the meds. and didn't smoke had to have her bowel removed.
I decided to try it. I figured that if it didn't work I'd could always quit again. But it did work and I told my daughter about it and she found the article in the paper and phoned me with the news.
Since then I have heard many stories of people becoming ill with a variety of ailments after quitting smoking.
