> I had a NDE and I didn't even feel like I could talk
> about it for years.
You're thinking from perspective of someone who DID have an NDE...
maybe you also didn't read the thread i linked to...
As for "why", there's several posibilities:
* money (from book-selling)
* enhancing a list of one's "spiritual" experiences (for sellers of spiritual hot air)
* being able to claim that one has a god-given mission in life
* giving additional (again god-given) legitimacy to one's advancing of (the religious side of) New World Order
I have a feeling that Dougherty's NDE is a fake for the latter reason (advancement of the NWO agenda). For yyour convenience, i will repeat my argumentation here.
===============================
While i'll state once again that i'm fully aware - i really am - that i might be (totally) wrong in this particular case, i'll present why i have the impression. It might be beneficial to some if it is true, and if it is not, it still might possibly teach someone somewhere a bit about critical thinking and reading, and not always taking everything for granted.
In the end, God can be the only true judge here: only he knows the truth.
Anyway, to argumentation. Remember, this is just a hypotesis.
==Style/production==
My first inkling was the style of (description of) the experience... it kinda sounded more like a production than experience description.
A random example:
"As a massive field of energy began to form in the sky directly in front of me, I heard a loud, grinding mechanical noise as the mass of energy shaped itself into a cylinder funneling upwards. It seemed as if the darkness of the sky turned into liquid as the mass of energy curled like an ocean wave"
This is pure Hollywood. The grinding noise is well known from other NDEs and other altered states anyway, and the "massive curling ocean wave of mass of energy" is straight from A-production Hollywood movie, any of the many we've seen that contain a scene with the described film studio/computor generated cloud phenomenon.
==Title==
Next, the title of the book cought my attention: Fast Lane to Heaven... hmm. Sounds much like "easy-everything" promises of contemporary marketing... but i might be wrong. If not, it might be a good joke, but then again this subject doesn't really call for a joke as a title, so it probably isn't.
==God's plan==
Next, in his site (and book) very often he's talking about "God's plan". Now, how should i put it not to sound stupid...: I know something about God too ;), and in my experience God has love, and possibly God has law; but plan...? planning is mainly human activity, and everyone does it unavoidably to some degree, but some people indulge it more than others. Believe me, God would be very bored in eternity, if he had a Plan. He does have a plan, that is, but in a MUCH broader sense than human history. There is much more to each of us than being a part of Histories - and Plans.
And indeed, God's real Plan is God's plan after all, and it's not like it can become endangered by people gone astray or someone else's plans. I've met God once or twice, and believe me, the whole of universe is but a drop in the ocean (literally) of Him, and it's not like he's not in control. Only this control is much different than what people imagine as "control"; and his plan is not a plan of events to happen on Earth, but a much much broader scheme of our existence, of which present life on Earth is but a small educational dream.
Events on Earth get planned - and executed - by people, not God. And falsely claiming to speak for God is everyone's right, as we are free beings. God doesn't even care about that. To him - and ultimately to us - some completely other things in our lives count. But him not caring, doesn't mean one should believe anyone who talks nicely about God, Love, Light, etc.
One reason i'm not certain about my suspictions, is that i actually agree with much - most in fact - of text i can read on Dougherty's site. God's love is all-encompassing, and all other things which you can hear in other - possibly more real? - NDEs, and i agree that leaders of USA have become a menace to the world, and that natural cathastrophies might be due, and many other things in the NDE itself and in Ar. Michael's "message". But most is not same as all, and America might actually be set up to fall, not by God, but by people who like to plan very much, of which Dougherty just might be a member. And "natural cathastrophes" just might not be caused by God but by people and powerful climate devices which are known to exist, at least known to those who take time to find out.
And frankly, regarding God and human history, as he watches it unfolding, i am positive that at the time of creation of Americas, God's heart was firstly with the indigenous peoples being extermined, rather than with the "proud forefathers of the civilization to be admired and respected" as "Michael" puts it.
==Lady of Light, Virgin Mary==
I don't think high of the cult of the god mother. Jesus himself never praised his mother as a celestial being; on the contrary, he renounced his family in public on one occasion (not because he didn't love or like them, but in context of a much more real Father of each one of us). On the other hand, the cult of the lady with a child, and an immaculately concieving god-mother at that, is an ancient pagan cult from Babylon (Semiramis), which continued through Egipt and subsequent civilizations, in the end even finding it's way into christian church. And it will apparently continue into One World Church, because the same tradition, or cult, is the one i'm talking about as possibly being real motivators of this supposed NDE.Because, they never stopped trying to build their big Babylon tower, the tower of ego and power. Some call these people Illuminati.
==Prayer==
While i agree that prayer and meditation is a powerful thing, a mighty tool for bringing one closer to God, prayer can be (and has been) misused for keeping people from actually dealing with life and the world around them, if people are misdirected in it's use. What was middle-ages church advising people during it's unabated rule over them but "pray, pray pray!".
And yes, the "coming End Times" have been used succesfully for centuries by the same priests as a means for frightening people and keeping them submised, and keeping them praying for their salvation from "heaven falling on their heads".
Well now some people actually have the power to stage the Armageddon, and to threaten with it, to stage the second coming of Christ, the Golden Age and what have you. And to frighten people out of their minds with Septembers 11ths, possible nuclear holocausts, natural catastrophes, so as to accept any peace-promising rule that will offer them security and pretend to speak and act with God's authority, and in accordance with "his plan", for a good measure.
"The kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation, nor will people say, 'Here it is,' or 'There it is,' because the kingdom of God is within you."
==Mission of Angels Foundation==
Nice name, but interestingly the Benefit Funds section of the site is "under construction". So we can't find out about their benefit activities (besides staging theatrical/musical events that we can read about elsewhere on the site). But, i agree, that in itself doesn't mean there is no positive activity. Even establishment stars give charity (provided enough publicity). Even "Church" of Scientology is (pretending to be) active in human rights and religious freedom matters, and still is a worst brain-washing cult ever invented.
On the other hand, reading stuff like "$1499.00 per person/ double occupancy. * $125.00 additional for single accommodations. * Round-trip airfare from Kennedy Int'l Airport via Luftanza/Croatian airlines. * Round-trip transfer to/from Medjugorje - Split. * 9 nights in Guest Hotel w/private bath. * 150 yds. from St.James Parish. * Two Meals daily, breakfast and dinner. * Round-trip ride to hear visionary speak. * Round-trip ride to hear Fr. Jozo speak (if scheduled) * All taxes on the above" doesn't lend to my good feelings about the whole thing either. Do you really think that to get closer to God or to help humanity you have to travel across half the globe, stay in hotels and have round trips, and pray on places where someone "had visions". Think again. God is much, much closer than that, and the trip to see him costs NADA in dollars.
==But, he is on the Board of Directors for the International Association for Near-Death Studies!==
Exactly. A perfect position to control a movement and (perception of) phenomenon which has a potential to actually bring people closer to god. After all, all the effort to build this NDE and the Mission wasn't for nothing, was it? The stakes are high, so the aims are high too, and the words are big, and the names are big ("Michael"), and the production is A-class. The producer of the movie wants full theaters, doesn't he.
==Future visions==
And last but not least, as i said in a previous post, regarding future visions of 9/11, developing world events etc: besides being inspired by God or angels, one can sucessfully predict ("prophesize") them by being an insider on the Plans for the world, laid out by those who like and have power to plan them, and who will need all the believers they can get, for their plans to suceed.
===================
"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road
that leads to destruction, and many enter through it" - Jesus said.
And indeed, fast is the lane that leads to destruction, and many ride it as
we speak.

P.S.
I can't wait for an NDE where someone will meet the "Council of Nine", or some of the "Ascended Masters" and "Spiritual Hierarchies" who talk through an inflating number of "channels"...
