Hi
I practise reflexology since 2000. I have learnt a lot from my work and from the people I treat. My quick and deep comment is that you may take reflexology (a sequence of micromassages on each single reflex point) as a support treatment to your own personal, physical, emotional, spiritual growth. It's your own self that decides what to take and what to reject from a reflexology treatment. Who looks for an holystic approach is already incline to do so, consciously and/or subconsciously. You are looking into a personal transformation, you need to improve a physical "dis-ease", you start reflexology, you will probably start looking into your life style (your diet, your exercise, your extreme emotions that cause evident physical disorders) and you will start working on your own personal issues seeing them from the outside and being more able to judge them. The reflexologist may not interfere in your choices and more than anything else MUST not interfere in medical prescriptions and cures.
Doing reflexology on yourself is fine. Having a professional doing it on you is different, it will allow you total relaxation and a space all for yourself, to feel deeply in touch with your body, with your feelings and to feel support in all of this.
Enjoy
