If you can ever afford it, I would suggest allergy testing. This would make it easy to identify foods and chemicals that you are allergic to and give you a working knowledge of how to change your diet and lifestyle. The primary way to go, if you do not get allergy testing, is to eliminate exposure of foods and cleaning products(with dyes and chemicals) "one at a time" until you notice improvement. An easy thing to do is to use baby shampoo and soap that contain no dyes and use only detergent that is unscented. Can you afford not to make decisions that might improve your situation?
1) try quitting milk and dairy for two weeks. If you have noticeable improvement then you may be allergic to dairy. Up to 50% of children are allergic to milk but "like alcoholism" : if you are allergic to milk then milk makes you feel bad but only milk may you feel better. Avoid dairy if you are allergic to it or if you feel better after two weeks of not consuming "any dairy products then just say no to milk and other dairy products.

All-Natural Almond Milk Alternative to dairy
1 1/2 cups of raw almonds, soaked in water overnight
4 cups of filtered or spring water
3-5 dates (optional)
Blend 1 ½ cups of raw almonds that have been soaked overnight in 4 cups of water. Blend with dates if you like your milk with a hint of sweetness. Strain once to remove almond granules. The result is a delicious, creamy milk that is free of harmful vegetable oil, concentrated sweeteners, and the problems associated with cow’s milk and soy. It can be stored safely for 3-4 days in the refrigerator.
If you "do not" notice any improvement then go back to dairy and see if you have an allergy to wheat.
2)Wheat products are hard to quit but try it for two weeks and if you feel better then you may be allergic to wheat.
GLUTEN AND ADHD:
From Dangerous Grains by James Braly, MD, and Ron Hoggan, MA:
"About 70% of children with untreated celiac disease show exactly the same abnormalities in brain-wave patterns as those who have been diagnosed with attention deficit disorder. Another recent study, the first of its kind, reported that food allergens, including wheat, could reproducibly cause abnormal brain waves. The most remarkable part of this research is that it shows that after a year of excluding gluten from the diet, all of these abnormalties disappear. For these children, diet not only treats their celiac disease but also their brains and ADD"
They conclude there may likely be a considerable overlap of ADD/gluten sensitivity.

If you feel better after two weeks of eating or drinking any wheat(gluten) food product the gluten free may is the way you need to be. If quitting wheat did not help then go back to eating wheat products and quit
Sugar for two weeks.
3)
Sugar is the hardest addiction for me to break. I have quit most refined sugars but I still get my
Sugar from fruit in my daily fruit smoothy.
Normally, when you ingest sugar, pancreas releases insulin, which stops blood sugar from rising too high. At the same time, adrenal glands release certain hormones to keep the insulin from driving blood sugar levels too low. According to research, ADHD children release only about half the amount of these hormones as normal children. It was found that this uncontrolled drop in blood sugar significantly decreased brain activity in these children.
It was also found that the ADHD children unconsciously become physically hyperactive in an effort to force their adrenal glands to release more of these hormones (catecholamines). These children are unconsciously placing their bodies under stress trying to 'squeeze' more hormones from their already weakened adrenal glands.
As a solution, Dr. David Williams recommends avoiding sugar and high carbohydrate foods, as well as strenghtening the adrenal glands with a product called Drenamin. In some children, a thyroid imbalance may be contributing to ADD and/or ADHD. If avoiding sugar and high carbohydrate foods and taking Drenamin does not cure the problem, Dr. Williams recommends taking thyroid glandular supplement Thytrophin and the liquid
Iodine supplement Iosol.

If I was going to take one supplement though it would be A*****ose Complex. I have never taken it but I have thouroughly researched it and it may be the one supplement that could give you a quality of life that will allow you to get a job, go to college, and help get your neurotransmitters transmitting the way they were meant to transmitt. When I give up all refined sugar, Ambatrose is the next thing on my list to try.
If you want to add one type of food to your diet then I would say add foods with magnesium: Raw Spinach instead of lettuce tastes better than lettuce and is not nasty like canned spinach.
Chard, Boiled 1 cup 35.0 150.50 47.0 27.3 excellent
Spinach, Raw 1 cup 6.6 23.70 7.4 22.8 very good
Exercise and daily doses of sunlight are as important as anything.
If you are going to do the caffeine...
Responses to methylphenidate and varied doses of caffeine in children with attention deficit disorder.
Garfinkel BD, Webster CD, Sloman L.
Six children with the diagnosis of Attention Deficit Disorder were treated as day hospital patients, using different stimulant medication. They were studied in a double-blind crossover experiment in which they received caffeine in low dose or in a high dose. Methylphenidate was added to both dosages, as well as administered alone. Results indicated that caffeine in low dosage when added to methylphenidate was superior to all other treatment conditions. Caffeine in low dosage could not be differentiated from 10 mg of methylphenidate. High dosage caffeine was not different from placebo or no-drug conditions. This study offers evidence to support a curvilinear pattern of dose-response for caffeine, in attenuating the behavioural manifestations of this syndrome.
Caffeine is a temporary substitute for what you really need and it may catch up with you some day.
I take ginkoba and drink naturally decafeinated green tea. Good stuff and good for you too.
But the #1 thing I would do is to start helping others in your community. That is my number one drug and it makes my neurological problems not seem so important anymore.
If you can fill your life with good things then eye candy and sugar may become less and less important. I know what you are going through but don't kick yourself when you are down. Start small and take baby steps. The fastest runner does not always finish first in the race of life. I hope you read this far and I hope this helped.
Yah Bless you,
