Hi LIFE+,
I just would like to recall that Budwig selected quark as a source of sulfur based protein in the following specific context: she was elaborating a diet for unhealthy peoples in which they had to stick to very rigid principles. Not eating meat is one of these principles. In such a context, meat had to be replaced by a good source of sulphur-based proteins. The most easily available source of sulfur based proteins was quark (no-fat fermented milk strained in such a way to get a higher percentage of protein). Consequently, J. Budwig selected quark.
By sulphur based protein, one means, for exemple, N-acetyl cysteine or methionine. Milk products don't have the monopoly of sulfur based proteins. Such proteins are in abundance in meat, eggs, etc. BioSan Companion Nutrients has amongst its ingredients L-Methionine, which is a sulfur-based protein. Companion Nutrients can make flaxseed oil water soluble.
But who needs to bother about protein in general, sulfur based protein and Companion Nutrients?
Erasmus says that modern man DOESN'T LACK sulphur-based proteins: he has in his diet the proteinic elements that make flaxseed oil water soluble. "Protein deficiency", write Erasmus, "occurs in some elderly people living alone, poor and destitute (street people), and physically and mentally handicaped people who are unable to care for themselves." In a matter of fact, as a rule, the diet of the modern man is so protein-full that sometime that makes him sick. On the contrary, normal modern man's diet is deficient in good oil and essencial fatty acids.
The question is: if I am not an unhealthy person fully engaged in a strict Budwig diet and if I am not allergic to quark, why would I take Companion Nutrients? And if I understand well Erasmus, if I am not an unhealthy person, I not only don't need to take quark and flaxseed oil, but I even don't need to take flaxseed oil more than six months. A more balanced oil in omega-3 and omega-6 (like Udo's Choice or Hempseed oil) would be more suitable as a daily supplement.
(I apologize for my rather basic English. I do my best with a language that is not mine)
