I never realized how many different types of tinnitus and causes there are.
If I can get a better idea of what type I have, Then at least I have a resource for treatment.
Awhile back, in Oct/Nov? I started listening to a CD called Insight. It's supposed to induce a medative state. I started to notice that my ears seemed 'sensitive'.
(Don't know how else to discribe it) I'd put the earphones on, and before even turning on the player, noticed a change, or difference in how my ears felt.
While listening to the CD I felt the back of my head just above the spine/brain stem was being stimulated. Is that hypothalamus?
While cleaning house, bending over to pick up the floor I experienced a loud ringing in my right ear. In trying to relieve it by yawning and jaw movements remember hearing a crack or pop sound. I also tried a (tibetan?) exercise called beating the heavenly drum. This event led to my awareness of the constant high pitch I now have. I stopped listening to the CD for about a month in hope things would change. It didn't, so I resumed listening. Now I realise that the tape does help improve my mood/outlook, as I was depressed and irritable during the time I didn't use it. Still wonder if it's contributing to this tone or not.

Quinthius! Yes! I feel I know what you're talking about, except my experience is with stores, not TVs. I cannot shop in some stores. They hurt my ears! Have you ever heard of such a thing? I believe there is some sort of electronics in them,(security devices?) that emit this pitch that drives me buggy! So yes I have considered the possibly of electrical appliances. But what about when I go outside? Overhead wires? What about the beach? There aren't any wires there. Am I hearing the electricity in my body? The sound of conciousness? Don't know.

Last night I went to sleep listening to my Insight CD. I dreamt I was walking down a street in a city. I seemed to be in an industrial area, alot of big buildings, not houses. Suddenly ALL sound stopped. It stopped me too as I looked around and thought, "So this is what silence sounds like". Then I realized that people were still walking, cars were moving, etc. "So this is what it feels like to be deaf!"

Hey, I'll take the high pitched tone over that any day.
