Hello,
I am new to the board and I think that it so great that there is a site like that is so informative. I am scheduled in a couple of weeks to have 5 mercury fillings and one crown replaced with a composite material. I have known about the health affects of mercury for some time but I am now able to afford it.
I had the crown put in when I was a young teenager. I am wondering if the fact that I have a crown means that I had a root canal. I know that sounds silly that I do not know, but I was young and don't remember, nor do I really remember the dentist telling me (I just went along with what my parents and dentist said). So I am wondering if I have the crown does that indeed mean that I have had a
root canal (I am assuming that I have).
I now now that
root canals are bad for you too, so I am wondering if when I go to the dentist to have the mercury removed if there is something other than replacing the crown I can do? What are the options and alternatives to a root canal?
Have any of you had mercury replaced, if so do you have any pointers of me?
I have been suffering from bipolar
Depression (with mostly depressive episodes) and I am hoping that getting the mercury out will help with the condition. I also suffer from anxiety. I know it is possible that it will not hope, but atleast I will not be continuing to dump toxins in my body.
I really want to get rid of the root canal, as well, would the only option be to extract it? Would this affect my chewing since the tooth is in the very back?
Thank you in advance for all of your help.
Blessings
