IT IS TRUE...there is NO CURE for herpes. I'm sorry but Santa Claus isn't real either. Don't get peoples hopes up. Thats cruel.

It is a VIRUS. You will carry this virus in your body your entire life. If its HSV-2 it has infected the base of your spine in the nerve cells. If its HSV-1 its in the nerve cells at the top of your spine. There are 8 known human Herpes viruses. 60 Herpes viruses total known in the world which infect other animals (cats, horses, etc).

HSV-2 is just like HSV-3 (chicken pox). HSV-3 comes back in some people when they get older depending on their DNA. You can therefor give other people this virus who are not infected yet. You are not cured of it.

Sure getting a vaccine may be bad for you...so is breathing the air around you. So is drinking milk (bovine growth hormone). So is eating grapes (MANCOZEB pesticide) or anything else for that matter. Even Valtrex is bad for you. No one knows what the long term side effects are for Valtrex. What are you gonna do...seal yourself off in a vacuum tube from the rest of the world for the rest of you life?? Children can get a chickenpox vaccine that prevents them from getting HSV-3. How is that bad? Prior to the Meningitis C vaccination there were 150 deaths a year along with leaving some people with long term disabilities. Now its nil.

I speak the truth. If you dont like it dont read it...simple.

But don't put out statements that aren't true that gets people's hopes up. Thats mean.

I read all posts on this site, and once in awhile I feel I must respond to what I see, besides just asking questions, or bringing up ideas. First off, I do believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
I do feel though that kachati, your attacking blackcat for speaking the truth, which is that at this time there is no cure for this disease, is not beneficial to the group as a whole. People come to this site to learn about how to deal with what they have, to learn from others, to make friends whom they can talk and relate to. Yes I'm sure everyone wants a cure, I know I do, however that will most likely not be possible for people whom are already infected. I should think that a vaccine given to people would be a most great idea. Children are given vaccines for all types of things here in the U.S. this is to make their quality of life better, to ensure that plagues do not spread for easily curable diseases when something can be done about it, why would herpes be any different? As for people who are already infected, it is true there is no cure, the best that can be hoped for I believe, and what I feel some call a cure, is a cure from the effects of the virus, to be free from outbreaks. This would be wonderful for many, many people.
This is a SUPPORT forum, to discuss all things related to this virus. To find ways to deal with this. I am sure that some people are symptom free and believe they are cured, however from the known facts of this virus, we know that is not possible at this time, without the further development of new medications. Also, as for the posts about drug companies not finding a cure because of losing money on the drugs they now provide, that is rubbish! The scientists whom are researching and developing these new drugs want a cure, they are motivated by that. I understand politics, however, I don't believe for a minute that these companies are "not" finding or releasing drugs that cure, it'd would be almost impossible to do that, to keep all people associated whom knew of a cure, quiet...think about it...
Anyhow, I hope that all are able to deal with this in their own way, are able to share what works and doesn't work for them in order to perhaps help another. I know that when I first found this site, it was such as relief! To know that I wasn't alone and to learn more about this virus. I hope that this forum can continue to be a place that people seek and find help, and no just a place to argue about the policitcs of things or to attack one another about having nothing better to do.
