This is a reply to # 344,096When did the chruch start being anti-gay? The bible never mentions gays. You can argue that one all you want, bible thumpers, but it's just not there. The word didn't even exist then.
There are plenty of other things that people just choose to conviently ignore in the bible,things that are there black and white,such as women on their periods are an abomination.
Anyway it seems that christians aren't totally happy when they aren't hating someone.

This is a reply to # 344,116I agree, I saw on the news christians who were going to a place where a gay man was buried after he died in Iraq yelling and holding signs that he got what was coming to him and he deserved it. One of the ladies doing this was actually saying she was proud of this. Your telling me this is godly behavior. I think a lot of people are using religion in very harmful ways; its not the religion thats flawed, its the people.

This is a reply to # 344,119I disagree, man created religion, so it is flawed. The idea of loving others though is not. Any religion that condems or controls people and I think they all do it, is created to do just that, control people.
They do it with fear. Fear of hell! It goes beyond fear of death. It is the ultimate fear. I don't buy it. I was raised Christian, but adopted Buddhism in my early 20's. It makes a hell of a lot more sense and like someone pointed out you don't see Buddhist terrorist running around blowing people up. And Buddhism is not based on any GOD or higher being. It's based on a law. Anyway the one I follow is. It's all about cause and effect.
That's my truth and I'm sticking to it.
Jesus has to be ashamed of what people say and do in his name, that is if he even cares anymore.

This is a reply to # 344,119the bible teaches that we should hate the sin, not the sinner. As christians, we are to hold one another accountable for our actions in accordance with the teaching of Christ. Our love for one another presents itself also in the care of what we all do individually and collectively and to respond to the things that can potentially harm ourselves and/or others. Sin in all it's forms is harmful, including homosexuality. It separates us from God and this marriage law is just another step downhill to the degradation of society as a whole when we openly accept it as normal practice and chastise anyone who doesn't accept it. We built this land upon the principals of Christ and we were richly rewarded according to our faith. Although we were still guilty of sin we still held fast to our Christian faith and as a result became one of the richest countries on this earth. Same as the States and Britain. However, just as quickly as we arose to wealthiness, we will fall at the same rate if we continue to rebel against God's word and push him out of our daily lives, schools, courthouses etc. We are already seeing the states starting a slippery slope of decline and Canada is not far behind if we continue on the track we are going. Anything and everything we do will be rewarded accordingly according to God's righteousness. Why do you think we have third world countries today and why do you think they stayed that way for millenia? Take a good look at the god's they worship. They refuse to accept Jesus and so be saved therefore they continue to live under the bondage of poverty, violence, and squander. It's an undeniable fact given history that God is THE great creator and governor of all things. He governs the universe and as a result the wealthiness of societies come from the obedience to God's word and faith of the resurrection power of Christ. Take a good hard look around you...Our Godlessness is causing disease in all it's forms, sickness, death. We are facing crisis' now that are culminating and we are running around like chickens with our heads cut off looking for solutions to the world's problems which will only come little too late. The only hope we will have is the Return of Christ to put things back in order and establish His government. Many however will be duped into falling for false solutions that will come from false Christs and false prophets...namely the Antichrist. It's around the corner now...We are approaching the grand finale to the end of this era and the choices we make now will be the determinate of where we end up at the end of it all. Turn from your sin and believe in the one who was sent for us. No religion in the world and nothing we can do will solve the problems we are facing today. The only thing that can possibly save us from ourselves is Christ. He is the way, the truth and the Life and noone...NOONE...will enter the Kingdom of Heaven except through Him!! I pray for all to believe the words of the Risen Saviour and so be saved through Him...In the name of Jesus, Amen!

It's okay to make an argument using whatever logic you wish, but you can not deny the existence of what is clearly impilcit in your sources.

This is a reply to # 344,121Thank God someone has the same bible I do! I have a KJV and it uses the word effeminate but in word study thats our modern word for homesexual. Thanks for the scripts. I didn't have them all on hand. Ya know I am not condemning these people. THey do get hurt over this but I keep trying to tell them. I didn't write the book although I try to follow it as best I can. We are suppose to love everybody and I tried to get my point across that we have all done wrong. Ya know we are all in the same boat there. No one is better than another but God only blesses those who keep his word and I went through hell when I didn't keep it. Not because God is mean but if your child does wrong you better discipline them. It don't ever feel good for the moment.People here think I am soooo judgemental because I take God at his word. Why? What is wrong with believing his word. I guess they don't think its his word. I guess. oH me I bet I'll get some trash mail on this one.

It's pretty much in our nature to know that lieing, stealing, and cheating are all wrong but there's no explaining why homosexuality is wrong. It just makes everyone confused between what they feel is right and what someone is telling them si right. The homosexual's feel something different inside but everyone is telling them its wrong, its wrong, why? How could god make you gay and then tell you its wrong? Their not harming anyone. When it comes to homosexuality doesnt it sound like god is saying ignore your heart, just do exactly what i say and everything will be alright. Doesnt sound loving to me.

This is a reply to # 344,124I am sure most homosexual feel its okay or that it feels right. Sometimes lieing feels right or maybe the better thing to do. We humans reason within ourselves alot instead of going with Gods reason but its just that we are by nature sinful creatures with desires that are against Gods will. Only Jesus and with the help of the Holy spirit can we live a life pleasing to God. We have to commit our lives to him and choose to either live our life the way we want to or live it the way he wants.That's part of trust. Trusting him and knowing he created us and does know what is best for us even when it doesn't feel right. I am not sure why people are gay. Many believe its a spirit that somehow got control over them either at a young age or later in life. and of course some would say its just their flesh. I would think it could be both depending on the person and circumstance. Their is a scripture that says." There is a way that seems right unto man but the end leads to death." I think that is talking about our sin nature, it feels right and sometimes its the thing that is guiding us but God wants us to be lead by his spirit, not another spirit or our flesh.I am still dying to my flesh,' Paul said you have to die daily." to it cause it wants to control you.I do know from experience that when we give into a sin that we get numb to it and it seems okay and not so bad anymore. THey call it desensitized.I found out that is true and really happens to us if we give into it.Sin by nature does feel right or at least natural. Even if you know its wrong sometimes its easier to do wrong than right. I don't condemn a soul out their who is gay. I don't look at myself as better. My goodness everyone has sinned.Sin always has consequences no matter what kind it is. I've heard it doesn't hurt anyone alot.But if God says I don't want that for you, it hurts him and many people have contacted Aids from this. No all of course but It stemmed from that in many ways! I was always taught not to go by my feelings but by what Gods word said because feelings will lie to you.I know this is true too because I use to be a very feeling kind of person and yes I still struggle sometimes with this. I feel, I feel, I feel. Sometimes the feelings may be right but alot of times they misguide us and totally go against his word. I have people pray for me all the time and I pray for people cause I know we need each other. I really like God being God, He puts us all in the same boat and says okay. I love you all the same but who will love me and keep my word. Whoever keeps my word is the one who loves me and this is the one I will reveal myself to. We are all suppose to love each other!! sometimes our daughter get so frustrated with us because she want to do something wrong ( according to Gods word) and we won't let her. TO her she is soooo right and we are stupid and shallow minded and all the above but she is going by her feelings and not using good judgement and so we try to lead her as best we can. Of course We can't change her only God can lead her to want to do it his way. Its only our place to show her the way but she has to choose to walk there. Its between her and God and sometimes letting go and letting God deal with her is not easy. We by nature want so much to take control and take the control away from God. I am sorry this is so long. I dont know if this makes any sense to you but I tried~

It is because you have no argument but "Because God Said So"
I will choose to think that you have good intentions -- to follow God's will.
What scares me is that the road to hell is often paved with good intentions.
By this I do not mean that you will go to hell necessarily with your *good intentions* -- I mean that you can create hell for other people (gay people in this case) based on your misguided *good* intentions.

This is a reply to # 344,126I really like your attitude Healme. I think that so many people today are using religion to judge other people and cause them pain. That's not what I believe god wants. I can't say that I agree that god will only help us if we live by his word becuase there are billions upon billions of people who never even heard of Jesus or the Christian idea of God, but that doesnt mean that God doesnt not help them and except them into heaven. It really doesnt make much sense to me that unless you went to church, read the bible, prayed every day, excepted Jesus as your personal savior, etc that god won't be their for you. Americans especially tend to not see beyond their small worlds. God wouldnt make so many people of different races, cultures, ideas, and religions and then condemn them because of it. Thats why it doesnt make much sense to me so much that you need to follow every word in the bible, but that you need to be a good, kind person filled with love and compassion. And I think following the word of god in the bible is only one of the ways you can be that person and please him. Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity, Judaism are all ways to connect with a higher power and practic being a good compassionate person. One is not better or more right than the other. I believe each religion is a different way that god shows himself to different cultures and areas of the world, so that we can all be with him. A Buddha is going to be easier to understand for the Japanese than a man who came from Israel. This is why I think its not most important to follow every word of the bible than it is to love your higher power, whatever that may be, and to love all of that powers creations. I personally don't connect with Christianity and I realize that its probably better that even if I dont follow the bible I am still aware of a god and still am what I believe god would want me to be, a good person who accepts people of all different types. Nobody has all the answers and I think that a lot of the bible has been misinterpreted through translation and other things(sorry if this offends you)so I rely on what feels right to me, and personally the idea that homosexuals are sinners feels very wrong. Im sorry this is so long but I just felt like getting my feelings out. I hope you can all accept even if you dont understand

This is a reply to # 344,124I do think people are gay for probably many different reasons. I use to have a friend, we have lost contact now. I moved she moved etc.. but when I was about 9 or 10 she tried to kiss me in the mouth and I mean she moved in slow just like a guy ya know? I felt something bad and said" What are you doing?" then she just got this bewildered look and I told her " No Don't ever do that again." and she didnt. Later on when she was all grown up she got saved and married and has 3 kids. All she talked about was Jesus saving her. I was too young to ask her why she did that. I didn't even know what that meant then. But thinking on it, they way she did it, I couldn't help but think someone else did that to her since she looked so shocked when I told her No don't do that again.

I am not in agreement that the Gospels do say it is wrong. The quote in Corinthians gets translated differently in more recent translations. (The more recent translations are not attempting to make things more politically correct [not all of them, at least]; they attempt the truest translation possible of the original language(s).]
The Deuteronomy verse gets translated differently, too.
So we are left with Leviticus. I do not think there is any place where reasons are given for why it is an abomination to lie with a male as with a woman. Bear in mind, though, It is listed among the myriad other do's and don't's . . . like offering sacrifices, eating only animal with split hooves who chew a cud, eating only fish with fins and scales, no tattoos . . . and various guidelines on how to treat your slaves.

Is this a joke? What do you think Sodom/Gomorraha means?? Remember the cities that was destroyed by God bc of homosexuality.
The specific word gay is not in the bible, but you know that gay means homosexuality.
