Johny…
I know this guy in Australia that works with alcoholics, and he talks about Glutamine. It appears that it is a type of
Sugar that the pancreas does not recognize, and in turn the body doesn’t produce a bunch of insulin to bring the body’s blood
Sugar back down. It stays in the system longer.
Check out his web site:

His basic take on this thing (alcoholism) is that we alcoholics suffer from hypoglycemia.
We have had long conversations about what fixes a hopeless alcoholic. I an convinced that a spiritual experience removed my obsession for that first drink. He, being a man of
Science will not look at this spiritual remedy as a real thing. I understand his skepticism.
I on the other hand have been much interested in the nutritional side of this disease. Early in recovery, many drunks are helped by eating hard candies. The
Sugar helps with the cravings, but a bunch of sugar means a later sugar crash. Not a perfect solution.
But a solid diet of fresh fruits and vegetables, small meals more often, and less refined sugars and processed white flower, a hypoglycemic diet, seems to me to be a good place to start.
I am sorry that you stumbled on Thanksgiving, but it seems that that deep
Depression can be the catalyst for change.
Just my opinion, but if that bottle of Tequila is still under your sink, give it away, or pour it down the drain. Like I said before, I couldn’t leave it untapped for long. But if I have to put my pants on, and drive myself to the liquor store to get it, maybe sanity will reassert itself first.
