I'm on day 11 of my long Water Fast (plus two days where I began but ate something in the evening the two days before I started and stuck with it completely) and hoped to go until I felt the true hunger that is talked about in here. My question is, will I feel that hunger if I still have extra fat on myself or no? I don't want to go beyond 30 days since I am still pretty new to fasting (I've fasted 5, 4, & 2 days before this working up to this longer fast). Does the true hunger only show up if there's not the fat to feed on? I am fasting mostly to heal myself. I'm sick of being sick. I've been congested for about 4 years and have had intense itching all over from what I think is Histamine Intolerance . From what I've read it sounds like leaky gut could cause this and giving my body a break to heal just made sense. I still feel hungry every single day though. Probably psychological since I love food and have been cooking for my kids throughout the fast.

This is a reply to # 2,380,716At day 29, at 40kg... Very very frail - I never experienced true hunger, nor on any extended fast. Not one bit... But my family advised that I stop because of other health reasons - primarily extreme low weight, risk to heart from electrolyte depletion.
You may never experience true hunger, like me, or you may experience it early but stop when your body gives you cues and have someone look out for you because sometimes your sooo deep in the fast you can't see yourself or the cues like others can. Be well!- Re: True Hunger question OhHelloThere

Pineapplehead, thanks for sharing your experience. With my reading, it sounded like ideally you fast until you experience the true hunger. Then I had all these questions.
It's strange that though fasting has been around for so long, it's still such a mystery in the mainstream. I looked up "how long can a person live without food" just out of curiosity as to what I'd find & it sounds so dire and horrible when not eating for days is discussed. They often mention Gandhi and his 21 days and that people often die around 60 days.
This site helps me to see it's worth sticking to. If I hadn't found it, I probably wouldn't have stuck with it this long.

This is a reply to # 2,380,869Everything has exceptions. Breatherians don't eat at all and live for years and years. You can watch some YouTube videos on Breatherians.
I also have never experienced a true hunger. But to answer your question, it is not only when all fat is used up, also when all nutritional reserves are gone you should feel the true hunger. If you are still not clean you may not feel the true hunger. Listen to your body, you will know when to quit. I have had few fasts that had to end in a day or two because something did not feel right.

This is a reply to # 2,380,889Thank you Archus, that's good advice. Though yesterday I was almost convinced that I'm done. I'm so weak and feeling gross, heartburn and my throat hurt in a weird way like I had swallowed something too big... and I miss food. Today I looked up parasites in our bodies and they grossed me out so much I'm set to keep going. Had an emena (which I really dislike but the parasite thing motivated me to do it anyways... I feel so sick during them like I'll pass out and vomit at the same time) and actually passed one huge worm and a bunch of small early stage ones... those rope worms. So disgusting. I would rather stick with this longer to get them out of my body than taste a morsel of the most delicious food.
