I'm curious as to what the most important message that people want to try to convey by posting on this forum.
For me, it is that Christ is love and that by sitting in the presence of Christ we are able to feel His love and be transformed by His love. The more we sit in the presence of Christ, the more we feel His love and the more we are transformed by His love and the more we ourselves become a vessel of that love. The sacrifice of Jesus Christ is the ultimate proof of this love. To me, all other aspects of the gospel stem from this. I'm not saying this is the only thing, or trapper is going to yell at me for not mentioning that the love of Christ is only a pathway to the Father, but I think for humanity this is what they really need to hear. I think most Christians are aware that Christ loves them, but I don't think all Christians are aware of how important it is for us to feel that love and be transformed by that love.
I feel like I have a pretty good idea of what Vektek and Refreshed would say. I would be very curious to hear what trapper and others would say.

it is YOU who has to control the flesh. its yours to do with what you will. it is tricky. it will get its way if it can. what else do you think pauls admonition to put to death the deeds of the flesh was about? oh, kinda sorta do this. ya know, you dont have to and if you look like your doing works or something god might see and take his gift back. or am i misunderstanding you guys on this last point?
i have never ever seen soo much wringing of hands in my life. you pretend to defend the whole bible while operating on maybe 10 verses, if you count the doubles and triples as one.

a year ago, if someone had told me that jesus was the reincarnation (term loosely applied and with qualifications) of adam, i would have laughed. now, thanks to my time on here, i am considering it. strong biblical support for such an thing. explains the genealogies perfectly. i mean why else give them if not vital information? and if it is vital information, why? how?

This is a reply to # 2,244,664Feelings of peace and love are always good and always from God. These feelings lead us toward God. To some extent, it is true that in the end all feelings and emotions become irrelevant and the love that we feel becomes something more pure and we realize that what we thought was love was just a little tiny piece of the real thing.

This is a reply to # 2,244,912I would be happy to. In this world we have two opposing forces, as I'm sure you are well aware.
On one side there is the force of Christ. Christ is a word that people use but it is the meaning behind the word that is what is important. The problem is that words cannot describe the Christ. When Christ is experienced, words lose all meaning. But since we are speaking in words, the closest words we can use to describe Christ are love, bliss and joy. These words are inadequate because they are the words of man and can never accurately describe God. But anyone that experiences the Christ will agree that all of these words do embody some part of the actual Christ, though none of these words or any other word of man could ever accurately describe Christ.
On the other side there is the force that desires to remain separate from God that people refer to as Satan. I cannot attest to a literal devil or not, but the force of Satan that works to keep man separate from God is very real. The force of Satan embodies all that is hateful, evil and unrighteous.
Man must decide which of these two opposing forces he will embrace. In order to return to Christ, man must embrace the force that draws man to Christ. As far as specifically, how does man do this? Believe in Christ, put our faith in Christ this is what the Bible teaches but what does it mean? It means to surrender to the force of Christ that draws us away from separation from God. The Bible teaches us to love God. But how can man love God when man doesn't understand the word love? Well first, love people, provide selfless service for people, that is how God teaches man how to love. God instructs us to provide charity, which is love without attachment. When we embrace this love without attachment, we are at the same time developing love for God. Our love for God is only the experience of Christ. As I said before, love is just a word and once man experiences Christ, words lose all meaning. The Bible teaches us many things that we should do in order to come to Christ. Man must repent of his ways of wanting to be separate from God, that means to turn from the force of Satan and embrace the force of Christ. God so loved the world that He sent His Son is proof that He wants us to return to His presence that He offers freely to all men. Devotion to God, worship God, these are all things we should do but are just our natural state of existence when the force of Satan is not present. In short, embrace Christ who draws you back to Him.
Some people might say that what I am writing here is still within the world of duality, but that is not the case.
Before there was love and hate, there was only One that is Christ that is Love.
Before there was life and death, there was only One that is Christ that is Life.
Before there was truth and lie, there was only One that is Christ that is Truth.
Before there was light and dark, there was only One that is Christ that is Light.
The human concept of opposites, love and hate, life and death, truth and lie, light and dark are within the human understanding of these words. When humans use the word love, they don't mean the real Love that comes from Christ, they mean the love with attachment that will usually turn into hate. When humans use the word life, they mean the life that is destined for death. But Christ said that He is the Life, not the life of duality of life and death. The Bible says that God is Love, not the duality of love and hate that humans understand. The way out of duality is to embrace The Singularity, which is Christ. Christ said that He is the Truth, not the silly human truths that are fleeting. That is what I mean by surrendering to the love of Christ.

i notice there is a lot of fast and loose definitions of things amongst the group here. part of the difficulty in talking about this subject has been these terms.
like love for instance.

so whats going on here? peter do you agape me? yea lord i philos you. peter do you agape me? yes lord i philos you. peter do you philos me? lord you know i philos you.
well, you have to have those words defined. for us, context shows the difference if we say to a family member i love you or if you say you made love to your wife. the three greek words for love are agape, philos and eros. philos and eros are easy - brotherly love and sexual love. agape is the tough one.
but wait. is god sexual love (EROS). no, in that case god is not love. is god PHILOS? no, because those emotions come from the flesh as well, not the spirit.

so, apparently at this point, peter was still walking according to the flesh.
THE definition of agape comes from paul (what a smart guy he was compared to the slower, simpler, rougher fisherman peter, but boy did he come around!).

love is a way of being. being agape is our greatest goal. conform to this and you will live. become like this and you truly will become like god. the serpent was wrong. knowing good and evil is not enough. head knowledge is crap. but if you are the right kind of person, you can come to a knowledge of all things.
so when i use the word "love" i am using this definition here in 1 Corinthians. every other kind of love passes away, at least in the form we know it as. enjoy it for now, for it is a temporary and unique experience. these bodies require discernment to properly control. god gives to everyone who comes to him a measure of self control. he then says that we are not tempted above what we can handle. and like anything we humans do, the more we do it, the better we get at it.
Mark 4:24
And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.
its a process. if you get comfortable you know youre off the path.
Luke 6:38
give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
all sins are forgiven so now its you do it, you own it. you cant come to god and say yea, im broken but im not interested in getting fixed. strain every nerve to enter the kingdom of heaven.

This is a reply to # 2,245,036Okay, well maybe we actually are not too far apart on this. You threw me before because it sounded to me like you were saying that having the love of Christ is a bad thing but I guess we just misunderstood each other.
In English we only have one word for love that man has claimed for himself. Man has twisted the word love into attachment to others and lust. Charity is probably a better word, but people don't understand that word either because they think it is something that a person does, instead of the accurate definition of pure selfless love free from all attachment. I like to use the phrase the Love of Christ but of course not everyone is going to understand what I mean by that.- Re: What is the most important messa... trapper/kcmo

This is a reply to # 2,245,083i like to keep it close the bone as to the meaning of words. there are many levels and layers of info in the scriptures. the original language and what you learn from following christ keeps it straight.
what i say is (aside from honest mistakes) accurate and true. it is no surprise to me that it is hard to understand.
the world teaches by telling and then getting people to incorporate that into their thinking and skills. the lord teaches by example and it is ONLY when you do what he does that you get the understanding.
i can tell where people stopped in the walk by what they understand and what they dont. everything is open to me. all i have ever done on curezone is to freely give as i have been freely given. its not who i am, its just a job. who i am does not belong here.

This is a reply to # 2,244,911You're right, I didn't know how, I tried to do it without Christ. I thought I could do it. I thought that by rejecting the flesh I was embracing the light but I was actually embracing the darkness. It is only Christ that can overcome the flesh, not man.

This is a reply to # 2,245,020That is very true and that is the path that I had to walk. I'm not complaining about it, whatever gets you there is fine. At the same time, I'm not going to encourage people to go down the path that I went down if there are more direct paths that still get you there (depending on the person).
