Have any of you taken opioid drugs and experienced the bugs crawling on skin side effect. The feeling is similar to morgellons feeling. I am wondering if there is a correlation to chronic pain. I have repetitive stress injury from using the computer.
Do any of you who suffer morgellons have chronic pain?
Opiates produce pain relief by binding to opioid receptors located throughout the brain and spinal cord. Most opiates bind to all the opioid receptors.
One opioid receptor is responsible for itching. Mice bred to have fewer of these particular receptors did not scratch themselves when given an opioid, but they did exhibit the telltale mouse signs of pain relief.
Also, studies of pain relief have found that patients given placebo treatment show increased levels of β-endorphin, a natural painkiller, in their cerebrospinal fluid.
Perhaps morgellons is a result of the body reacting to pain in the body, and similar to opiates, the receptor responsible for itching is also triggered? If so, medicines that relieve itchy side effects of opiates may help. From internet research I found that Hydroxyzine Pamoate 50 mgs 3 x a day can relieve these symptoms. Some herbs are:
– Phenibut to relieve tension and anxiety, ease body aches and to aid sleep.
– St. John’s Wort for anxiety relief, motivation and improved mood.
– 5-HTP for serotonin and neurotransmitter reproduction.
– Kratom to reduce pain.
I haven't tried any of these and this is just a theory but if any of you try any of these and have success please post.
Of course this doesn't explain the physical manifestations of morgellons, but who knows maybe that is a separate issue? Maybe because of the physical sensations we start to pay more attention to our skin and with lotions etc some stuff starts to come out that normally wouldn't. I know I have added essential oils on friends and have found black fibers come out of their skin too but they don't have any of the other morgellons symptoms.
I did a search and on one forum found someone wrote: "My doctor prescribed Hydroxyzine HCL 10MG. and Clobetasol Propionate ointment 0.05% The itching, burning and
parasites disappeared after 10 days."
