Hi all, I just recently saw a naturopath at Summit Natural Wellness Center and got the following labs done. I suffer from hypogonadism, adrenal fatigue, severe digestive problems, scalp inflammation, and of course, hair loss. My hormones have been out of wack ever since I took Propecia 6 years ago. Labs were done by Diagnos-Techs and Trace Elements. Would love to hear some opinions on these results.
24-Hour Saliva
Androstendione - 190 (151-350 pg/ml)
Cortisol (AM) - 6 (13-24 nM)

This is a reply to # 2,215,394I suggest you check our Dr. Wilson's site, www.drlwilson.com, for help in understanding your hair test. I use Analytical Research Labs as does he. My understanding, though, is that Trace Elements does not wash the hair at the lab (nor does ARL) so they are both accurate.
Just a couple of quick observations based on my own experience with hair analysis. Phosphorous is indicative of digestive fire, and yours is very low. Mine started out as 11, too, and only after dumping lots of parasites has it come up.
Your adrenal ratio (NA/MG) is very impaired. Ideal per ARL is 4.17. My practitioner uses the analogy of an 8 cylinder engine, and you are running on 1. Also, your thyroid (CA/K) is very sluggish. ARL has the ideal at 4.00, and the higher the number, the more impaired it is.
Sorry to be only bearing "bad news", but the good news is that if you commit to the right diet based on your oxidation type, right supplements, getting plenty of rest, drinking lots of spring water, and doing detox protocols regularly, you can change all of this. It will take time and discipline but certainly worth it all!

Hi Phoenixceliac,
Thanks very much for the reply. Very disturbing news on one hand, but on the other hand I already knew I had adrenal fatigue and digestive issues going in. The thyroid dysfunction is quite concerning. I've already experimented with iodine/co-factor supplementation, but I haven't been consistent with it.
Thanks for the helpful link to Dr. Wilson's website, there's a wealth of information on there to explore! It will take me a while to read through it all. I see my doc is not on the "Approved Practitioner" list, although there's only two in Ohio that are. I may look into visiting one of those in the future.
In the meantime, my doc wants me to do a detox protocol with hormonal support while starting an Elimination Diet (which isn't much different than my current diet). Is there anything else you would suggest? I'm interested in hearing more about your experience with parasites. My tests didn't show anything, but we all know that these tests are limited.

This is a reply to # 2,215,637Glad that my limited knowledge is helpful. Your thyroid wouldn't be so bad if your potassium was better. Potassium, per ARL, should be around 10. Sodium should be 25, and yours is 3. Those are 2 key minerals, and getting on the right program would help raise them.
Since I'm not trained as a practitioner, I don't know what to suggest as to supplements. If you can switch over to someone Dr. Wilson's trained, you would get expert advice.
I can recommend very strongly that you get more rest since the adrenals and thyroid are really weak. Going to bed by 9 or earlier would really help. The best sleep takes place before midnight.
Did you receive a diet (slow oxidation or fast) with your test? It would help to follow that as well as giving up gluten.
I purchase spring water (Arrowhead or Crystal Geyser), and that is all my husband and I drink now. We try to minimize sugars since our blood Sugar ratios aren't ideal. Yours (CA/MG) is also poor. Ideal is 6.67.
Oh, yes, me and parasites. I had no clue that I had them, but after I began doing coffee enemas daily, they began to come out. It took about 9 months of CEs before they appeared. I, like you, had digestive problems. I had been an undiagnosed celiac for many years, and things had improved since getting off gluten. But parasites had taken up residence somewhere along the way and had quite a stronghold. I didn't do anything special to bring them out except to follow the program and do the CEs.
I'm seeing a lot of liver or Gallstones come out now as well. While I had never had any overt problems with either of those organs, years of poor health seem to have caused both to not function optimally.
From my very first test, I revealed high copper, and copper is stored in the liver as well as in other organs. My liver seems to be dumping lots of copper.
Nutritional balancing is pretty complex, and that's why my best advice is to work with a dr. trained in it. Dr. Wilson is an expert and has high standards for those who are approved by him.

Yeah, I was shocked my potassium and sodium was so low. I eat 3-5 bananas a day, and liberally pour salt on most of my meals. Of course, I understand now that my body/digestive system is functioning so poorly that oral intake can only do so much.
I rated as a slow oxidizer (type #1), which is not surprising given the state of my adrenals. Sleep will be the number one thing I'll work on. Interesting note on spring water, I have a carbon filter currently, but that may be worth a try.
9 months on coffee enemas!!!!! Holy cow. I commend you for your perseverance. The process does sound quite uncomfortable. What type of parasites did you expel? Was this coffee enema strategy suggested by your practitioner?

This is a reply to # 2,215,900It's interesting about mineral levels and ratios. We think our physical intake of certain foods would raise them (bananas for potassium), but this is where the complexity of NB comes in. (And I don't claim to understand it...my practitioner does.) My husband's potassium was quite low and has finally come up, but not because he was eating more potassium-rich foods. I'll have to look at his retests and see what else was going on then. BTW, you are getting a lot of Sugar in all those bananas...not good for your blood Sugar ratio.
Love your reaction to my doing all those months of coffee enemas!! I've actually been doing them for almost 3 years now and look forward to them. The process, once you get the hang of it, is easy. The reason I look forward to them is because I desperately needed help in detoxing. Almost from the very first they made me feel better. Check out Dr. Wilson's articles on them. They do wonders for unhealthy colons and livers. And, yes, my practitioner pushed me into doing them. So glad he did!!
Yes, I have seen lots of improvements since starting NB. When I have more time, I'll have to list some.

I found Nutritional Balancing and Dr. Wilson's site after googling copper toxicity. I didn't know how to feel about Dr. Wilson's advice and some of his recommendations seemed strange and vague to me. I kept googling and came across the website of Theresa Vernon, who is a practitioner of Nutritional Balancing that used to work with Dr. Wilson but parted ways with him a few years ago because she didn't agree with some of his advice, specifically the new advice that was his own and not a continuation of the work of Dr. Paul Eck. I ended up doing a free phone call with her and decided to work with her.. I haven't started my protocol yet because this was just last week.
So, essentially I mean to say that if you find someone who practices Nutritional Balancing but isn't on the Approved Practitioners list, it might still be worth contacting them if they seem knowledgeable in the areas you seek to heal. I really liked Theresa because I found her site after reading an article she had written about Metals and the Mind on WestonPrice.org. It described me perfectly.

This is a reply to # 2,215,728Thanks for the note, Eliza. Dr. Wilson's website is indeed interesting, particularly the reference to Chinese medicine (yin/yang). I am open to his ideas, but I wonder what your doctor disagreed with specifically in terms of Dr. Wilson's "additions" to Dr. Eck's work. Any ideas?
At any rate, glad you have found a good doctor and are beginning your journey back to good health. I will definitely check out her article you recommended when I get a chance. Please keep us updated once you start the protocol!
