Hi. I've posted previously regarding debilitating skin itch. I've still got it and it has gotten worse over the years. I've tried almost everything but hadn't figured it out until recently.
It turns out the direct cause is food allergy - especially proteins. Whenever I eat proteins I get skin itching and it feels like bugs crawling all over my body. Even without eating anywhere near bedtime the itchy/crawly always happens at night and sleep is torturous at best.
Another thing that causes the itching and crawling is taking Magnesium Malate. It's the only type of Mag I've used for a while so it could be all types that would cause this. But I would take it an hour or so before sleep to get a better night's sleep and the itchy/crawly feelings are much worse than even just eating proteins - apart from eggs which are almost as bad.
I've had to resort to pharmaceuticals lately with a generic Zyrtec tablet which I take before sleeping. This has thankfully fixed the itch at night and for the first time in ages I've got refreshing sleep!
I've subsequently looked into why I'm allergic to proteins and Mag and it seems my adrenals are shot. This I already knew due to being greatly affected by loud noises, bright lights, and any stressful situations. I also have full body shaking/tremors all the time which are very obvious to me and can be noticed by other if they pay close attention. Also, hyperhydrosis.
So basically I've come here looking for advice on how to best fix this issue. I've struggled for years and it seems to be getting worse and just managed by the itch drug.
I currently take NOW Cortisol Support, Celtic sea salt, and the generic Zyrtec. Please advice.
Thanks
