Anyone know what low mpv could indicate with parasite infections? A test came back with 8.1 from a range of 8.8-13.0 as normal. Other levels were normal like alt, wbc, etc.
Could it be contributed to with meds? Related to infection? Sign of protozoa?

you have the same thing i have. excepts i have low low white blood cells because i been fighting so long.
MPV or mean platelet volume is the total value of platelets. this factor goes along with hemogloblin hemacrit & rbc. all of these typically are low together due to blood loss. so in theory parasites r sucking your intestines.
i actually had a lower count than you with the red cells.... and meds for me so to speak, drop my white blood cells... i dont care which med you give me..... my blood cells drop.

This is a reply to # 2,188,933Wow! Is this hookworms that siphon off your blood? I'm trying to learn and have spent the better part of the last 2 weeks researching. It's appalling that there are SO many people who are suffering with physical symptoms amd the mental anguish of knowing or not knowing and not getting proper medical help. I'm very angry about this. I'm half tempted to invest in an education and equipment and start my own parasite diagnostic lab... I'm not even kidding. This is disgusting... Allowing human beings to live with this stuff.

This is a reply to # 2,188,933and by the way, it could very well be a hookworm that we have but also it can be a blood parasite as well. i looked into blood parasites such as babesia and schistosoma. these are both malaria "like" parasites. im also testing to see if im lyme infected...

This is a reply to # 2,188,945Oddly enought i was diagnosed with hookworm around 2 years ago now probably by a NYC parisitologist. Since then two other visits he hasn't found anything with his scraping exam. The thing is with all the ivermectin, pyrantol pamoate and albendazole I've taken it seems hookworm would've got beat fairly easy so maybe it's something else but similar besides for flukes, protozoa and lyme - two which of tests have shown - lyme and protozoa, the thing with lyme is I treated that for a while and at a certain point it didn't really seem to be getting anywhere - thus trying to treat parasites which has been debilitating.
Schistosamisis have shown negative on a few serology tests at least so that's something and I've taken quite a few rounds of prazi.

This is a reply to # 2,188,965I had hookworms. They were the easiest ones to kill but they made you the most sick. I literally felt like I was dying and all the life was sucked out of me before before I started treating myself. I think they go easier because they live off the blood which has the meds circulating in it. They do cause intestinal ulcerations when they detach abruptly. These are taking forever to heal.
