Hi Jez,
Perhaps you might be interested in considering an overall health approach to your candida/leaky gut/parasitic problems, based upon this quote from Dr. John Tilden, M.D., "Normal persons are deadly to all germs and parasites peculiar to the human habitat." Also this from Dr. Thomas Levy, M.D., “Vitamin C can also prevent and cure non-viral infections....bacterial, parasitic, and other non-viral infections.”
As "grist for your mill," Jez, are you aware of the almost miraculous results many tens (hundreds?) of thousands of people have experienced, dealing with most of the physical health issues known to humankind, from ingesting the universally powerful antioxidant, ascorbic acid?
If you are seriously interested in finding a solution to your health problem(s), and gaining better health in all areas of your body, I encourage you to read [at least the first ten paragraphs of] this article, written by Dr. Robert Cathcart, M.D.
http://vitamincfoundation.org/www.orthomed.com/titrate.htm
It may just solve some or all of your health issue(s). You have only better health and well-being to gain by applying its recommendation. What have you got to lose?
These three quotes are instructive:
"There are more than ten thousand scientific papers that make it quite clear that there is not one body process (such as what goes on inside cells or tissues) and not one disease or syndrome (from the common cold to leprosy) that is not influenced - directly or indirectly - by vitamin C." -- Dr. Emanuel Cheraskin, M.D., Dr. Marshall Ringsdorf, D.M.D., and Dr. Emily Sisley, THE VITAMIN C CONNECTION.
"The evidence unequivocally shows that mega-gram doses of vitamin C can prevent and cure a vast list of conditions that plague mankind. It is both inexpensive and completely safe. My conclusion: vitamin C is the 'Primal Panacea.'" -- Dr. Thomas E. Levy, M.D.
“I have never seen a patient that Vitamin C would not benefit.” -- Dr. Frederick Klenner, M.D.
I wish you the best of success, Jez, in your search for better health! If you have any questions, comments, and/or concerns about ascorbate/vitamin C therapy, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
David
Hi Jez,
Just curious: Why is it that you think daily Bowel Tolerance doses of ascorbic acid "would treat only the symptoms not the real cause?"
If you care to, consider the following quotes from Dr. Levy:
"Electron flow supply > high flow = health; low flow = illness; no flow = death.
"All good nutritional nutrients are [ultimately] always antioxidants, and all antioxidants are always [ultimately] nutrients. The ability to donate electrons means it is a nutrient. Toxins are always oxidants, and oxidants are always toxic. The ability to take electrons away, means it is a toxin [and is synonymous with toxins of all varieties]. To my knowledge yet, no exceptions.
"There are very few human diseases or medical conditions that are not improved, to at least some degree, by the regular dosing of optimal amounts of vitamin C.
"The three most important considerations in effective vitamin C therapy are 'Dose, Dose, and Dose.' If you don't take enough, you won't get the desired effects. Period!...you will rarely ever fail to observe a dramatic response...if you take a large enough dose for a long enough time.
"I am absolutely convinced of one thing -- when enough vitamin C is given...for a long enough time, vitamin C helps virtually every condition, resolves many of them, and prevents still others....Furthermore, I have never found a single article showing properly dosed and administered vitamin C to fail to improve the status of a toxic or infected patient.
"The evidence UNEQUIVOCABLY shows that mega-gram doses of vitamin C can prevent and CURE a vast list of conditions that plague mankind. It is both inexpensive and completely safe. My conclusion: vitamin C is the 'Primal Panacea.'"
All just "grist for your mill," Jez, and I wish you the best of success in solving your health issues. And, BTW, I certainly do think the dietary protocol you enumerated will be good for your overall health.
Best regards,
David
Hi Jez,
I have personally experienced [as far as I know] none of those health maladies. But as the quotes showed, it is beneficial for virtually all health maladies.
The proper dosage is a Bowel Tolerance dose daily, and that varies for everyone, depending upon their overall health [and even varies day-to-day for each individual]. This quote from Dr. Robert Cathcart, M.D. well sums up the approach, "The clinical symptoms of...diseases and other conditions...are markedly ameliorated ONLY as Bowel Tolerance dose levels (the amount that almost, but not quite, causes diarrhea) are approached." And [again] this from Dr; Thomas Levy, M.D., similarly, " The three most important considerations in effective vitamin C therapy are 'Dose, Dose, and Dose.' If you don't take enough, you won't get the desired effects. Period!...you will rarely ever fail to observe a dramatic response...IF you take a large enough dose for a long enough time."
From my view, Jez, it is always the body that does the healing. We simply have to give it the right "circumstances" to do so. And admittedly, Jez, if you are looking for a "drug-like" response, you would probably be disappointed with ascorbate therapy. But, then again, if you are looking for a "drug-like" response, I would say that you are not really looking for a true cure.
Just my viewpoint, Jez, as "grist for your mill," and you have all of my best wishes for a successful resolution of/to your health issues.
Sincerely,
David
Hi Jez,
You must find your own Bowel Tolerance amount, i.e. that amount your body is actually indicating it wants/needs/can absorb, at any particular time. Read the first ten [or so] paragraphs from/of this article http://vitamincfoundation.org/www.orthomed.com/titrate.htm. There you will note that one's Bowel Tolerance, depending upon one's overall health, can vary from below 10 grams to over 200 grams per day [in many divided doses]. As just one example, Jez, you'll note Dr. Cathcart lists typical Bowel Tolerances for candidiasis, of a low of 15 grams per day, to a high of over 200 grams per day [in 6 to 25 divided doses]. You must let your bodily situation, at any point in time, "dictate" that [amount/need] to you.
As "grist for your mill," Jez: I began 20 years ago with a daily Bowel Tolerance limit of 10 to 15 grams. That "limit,", i.e. daily dose, has very gradually, but steadily, increased over that time to where it is now well in excess of 50 grams daily. The resulting health to me has been: no sickness whatsoever, including even headaches; no need for any doctors [the very occasional dentist excepted]; and no need for any drugs whatsoever, including any-and-all pains-killers, be they over-the-counter or prescription [the very occasional injection of "Novocaine" excepted].
My "suggestion" [for the very best of health], Jez, is to ingest all of the toxin neutralizing/antioxidizing ascorbic acid that you are able to ingest, e.g. a Bowel Tolerance dose daily [as I do]. Why not just start "experimenting" and see what results?
I hope that helps, Jez, and I wish you the best of success in regaining your health. If you have any other questions, comments, and/or concerns, about ascorbate therapy, please post them and/or contact me privately.
Best regards,
David
Hi Jez,
All good questions.
1) On average, I go through about five, 500 gram, bottles of ascorbic acid per month. Believe me, that is a bargain [at $10 to $15 per bottle], with no drugs to buy, no doctors to pay, and no health insurance premiums to pay [not to even mention the pain and (time) inconvenience I avoid, i.e. by never getting sick]!
2) Not exactly. What I am saying is that the healthier/cleaner one's GI tract is, the higher their Bowel Tolerance becomes. That has a two-fold beneficial effect upon one's health: 1) A cleaner GI tract always results in better health, because of the greater [toxin/waste, etc.] elimination ability of the body [and the greater nutrient absorption ability of the body]; and 2) It allows ingesting more ascorbic acid, thereby increasing the amount of toxin neutralizing/antioxidizing electrons in the body [and other health benefits of higher tissue saturation with/of ascorbate].
3) I have no "target!" My "target" is to ingest as much ascorbic acid as I can, i.e. as my body wants/needs/is willing and able to absorb. The more I ingest/absorb, the better my health seems to keep getting! And that is even as I continue to age [I'm currently 64], no longer do any exercise whatsoever, and my diet is not as healthy as it once was.
In this regard, Jez, this quote from Dr. Robert Cathcart, M.D. [a doctor who personally "prescribed" Bowel Tolerance doses of ascorbic acid to over 25,000 patients, over a 35 year career] is instructive: "I have seen enormous increases in bowel tolerance to ascorbate in adults, several hours before there was any outward sign of their getting sick." You see, Jez, you never know what is going on in/with your body [at any particular time]; you never know [for sure] what you are ingesting with the air you breath, the water you drink, and/or the food you eat; whether the next minute you will be bitten/stung by a poisonous bee, spider, ant, and/or snake, and/or scratch yourself with a rusty nail, etc., etc., etc., [almost ad infinitum].
My view, Jez, is to be pro-active, by keeping my tissues in as saturated a state, with ascorbate, as I possibly can. The health results to me [from this regimen] have been very worthwhile, to say the least! Has this been an inconvenient burden? Far from it, e.g. I spend less than 5 minutes per day swallowing upwards of 100, one-gram, tablets of ascorbic acid [in 10 to 15 divided doses], typically 6 to 10 at a time. A little practice is all it takes.
I hope that helps, Jez, as "grist for your mill." If you have any other questions, comments, and/or concerns about ascorbate "therapy," by all means post them or [feel free to] contact me privately.
Best wishes, Jez,
David
Hi Jez,
The brand of "C" I take is Costco's Kirkland Signature [because it is the least expensive brand of tablets I have found]. Basically, all I am looking to ingest is plain "old" ascorbic acid, although additionally mine just happens to come with 10% citrus bioflavonoids [which are composed of 10% hesperidin and rutin]. It also has a very small amount of rose hips in it. But again, it is the pure ascorbic acid that I am after, as it is this that has the proven health [and disease fighting] benefits.
I hope that helps, Jez.
Best wishes,
David
Hi Jez,
"Some people say" lots of things! With relatively few exceptions, the scientific tests have all been done using pure ascorbic acid [orally - intraveneously it is always with sodium ascorbate]. That article I originally referred you to, by Dr. Robert Cathcart, M.D., with the virtually miraculous results in thousands upon thousands of cases, were all achieved with pure ascorbic acid. That being said, Jez, if your are willing to pay for it, the addition of rose hips is certainly not going to hurt anything.
Best wishes,
David
