Not sure if this apply's to anyone else, but the majority of the lip balms are full of drying agents to obviously stimulate more sales. I only got exfoliate cheilltis a couple months back after using Vaseline. Theres a specific ingredient called "Linalool", which i think is a big factor in causing constant peeling of the lips.
After i stopped using products not only with this ingredient in but overall, my lips went through hell drying up and peeling over and over. But i just went through with it, leaving my lips alone and now they are nearly cured.
There will be other cause's im sure, but this ingredient is known for causing eczema, which cant be good if applied to your lips.
Just leave them alone and ride it out. It'll be painful and annoying, but you'll feel hell of a lot better afterwards.

This is a reply to # 2,171,596I googled linalool to see if it was related to lanolin. It is not. Dr. oz recommended lanolin as the best moisturizer for lips.
"Although lanolin is a natural, renewable material it is possible for it to be contaminated with pesticides. While allergies to pure lanolin do occur, its frequency is fairly rare. More frequently, people are allergic to the pesticides found in lanolin." Perhaps the pesticide problem can be avoided if you buy from an organic store.

MoreThis is a reply to # 2,171,721Yeah, i was non the wiser when i was putting linalool on my lips. To be honest, i think your body should be left alone to repair it, rather than adding anything onto them.

MoreThis is a reply to # 2,171,761You prefer the leave alone method? I think a moisture barrier prevents cracks in lips so less bacteria/fungus gets in.

This is a reply to # 2,171,802Longterm, I'm with you on this. I think if the leave it alone method is going to be done it needs to be in conjunction with moisturizer. Especially if you conclude that it is a form of wound. I know people don't think it's a scab but maybe it could be a form of callous or something. In any case the ideal environment for a wound being healed is a moist one.

This is a reply to # 2,171,928I agree with you about the lip balms, but that's why I'm talking about a natural moisturizer. A good natural moisturizer will not have harmful chemicals in it. Like I said before the ideal place for a wound to heal is a moist place. Do the research and you'll see more about that.

This is a reply to # 2,171,802Well i thought it was well on its way to being repaired, and throughout the other day these crusts came back and they are hard as a rock. They haven't came off in like 4 days and its only the center of my lips which have these, the bottom of the lip is normal aswell as most of the sides. This is only on my bottom lip. Why is it growing back rock hard when it was virtually gone the other day?

This is a reply to # 2,171,596I got mine through picking the chafed skin ((caused by excessive lip-licking) off of my lips over the course of months. Vaseline Lip Therapy (as opposed to Vaseline) has actually helped me manage this chronic condition.

This is a reply to # 2,173,580It'll help you manage it in the short term, but if you want your lips to be perfect again and not use lip balms ever, thats not the way to go about it.

This is a reply to # 2,173,598That seems to be precisely the problem. No one knows how to make his or her lips perfect again. Although people have posted success stories on here, most of the treatments that are claimed to have cured the condition have not worked for other people.
I had to go on with my life. I was out of money and I had placed an enormous strain on my family by hiding out for a year. At some point, you have to face the world. The question is, are you going to do it with scales all over your lips? I, for one, could not. If people can, more power to them.
