For almost 2 years I went from doctor to doctor with severe chest pain. It got so bad that I had to sleep sitting up because the pain was much worse laying down. Each and every doctor ordered up the same tests - EKG, chest x-rays, and blood tests which all came back negative. One doctor even diagnosed my condition as "psychosomatic". In other words, it was all in my head.
Finally, I was fortunate enough to find a white haired country doctor who immediately diagnosed the pain as a duodenal ulcer, ordered up a an upper GI, and found a duodenal ulcer exactly as he diagnosed. He prescribed Tagamet, and the pain went away.
If a lousy doctor can't figure out what's wrong, in their opinion it's your fault; you must be crazy or imagining it because they are infallible. The bottom line is this; Compassion and caring isn't a requirement to be a doctor, and the majority of them are in it for the money. They really don't give a damn! Next patient please!
