I self prescribed myself a round of praziquantel coupled with albendazole for treatment of possible liver flukes and/or tapeworms.
I was following the 2 week dosing instructions given by ICU on curezone, which is prazi for days 1-3 and 11-13, rest for a week, then repeat.
And Albenz. for the full 2 weeks, with one weeks rest, then repeat.
The problem is I wasnt able to get enough Prazi. So I was only able to take about a day and a half.
By the end of the second day I was feeling really good actually. I am now on the 4th day of Albenz, and experiencing some liver pain (though I am taking meds bc of undiagnosed liver problems, so liver pain is not uncommon). So I dont know if this pain is due to something dying, or if I was on my way to killing something, and the insufficient treatment is resulting in an incomplete kill, and they are re-attaching so to speak.
I ordered and have received the koi/pond prazi, but am hesitant to take it (as it is for pond fish!). Also even if I were to take it, I am unsure if I should take the last day and a half (that I missed) asap, or wait and use it for days 11-13 as recommended.
I feel very uncomfortable self treating, especially since I have liver problems to begin with and these meds are taxing on the liver, but if I can cure myself it is worth it.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Liver background in case youd like more info:
Severe liver pain that comes usually w an empty stomach. ALT AST goes up ~600's. Worst times I have a fever of 104. ALT AST usually resolve within a month or so. But I have bouts of intermittent pain and assume the numbers are a bit elevated during these episodes. I have general systemic swelling, and my liver feels enlarged, uncomfortable a lot of the time ( but I did feel relief the days taking prazi?!?). Lots of joint swelling/pain. I dont have Hep. viruses or autoimmune diseases. No Lupus. I have Lyme disease but liver involvement is never seen at this level. Im 27 yr old F. I am so scared for my body! Thanks for reading!
ps- I am also considering ordering Egaten from Dr. Chieu... if anyone has done so please tell me how this went. Would it be ok to ditch the rest of prazi treatment plan and just take egaten? Thank you!

This is a reply to # 2,161,004I can't advice about dosing, but the fish type is perfectly safe. I just drank two bottles of Tetra Medica TremaEx, which should be 1600mg of prazi today and I'm feeling fine. Will be drinking another bottle later. The taste is very disgusting, though.

Curious as I think 600 mg at a time tends to be the recommended dose on parasites forums, two or three times a day for a few days unless doing a shorter treatment.- Re: Praziquantel Dosing Help Aide

This is a reply to # 2,161,030I've read that you need a dose of 25mg/kg three times a day. Which would be 2000mg x 3 for me. But I couldn't afford this much right now, since only liquid is available in my country and it is a lot more expencive. So I took 1600 mg at once and then another 800mg after several hours. I haven't noticed any effect at all, except maybe getting quite sleepy. But it's 10pm and I've been studying all evening, so who knows...
I also ordered some pills from ebay. 50 pills x 600mg. But they will only come after two weeks.

This is a reply to # 2,161,004I can relate all to well with having high liver enzymes. 182727, your liver is definitely toxic are you taking any medications like benzodiazepines?

This is a reply to # 2,161,106No Im not. My liver numbers will shoot up, but then go back to normal. There has been no connection to any influence on my end. Most typical causes have been ruled out, which is why Im taking praziquantel and albendazole.

This is a reply to # 2,161,164Im also experiencing lower back pain now and am a bit concerned the drugs are affecting my kidneys. But I imagine if the drugs are killing off parasites, that is quite a load to filter out as well, so maybe they are just working hard? Has anyone experienced this before.... wondering if I should stop taking the meds. BTW- I am taking the koi prazi in gel caps, finishing my initial dose 1 day late.

Based on your history of liver problems, the following may be helpful for you in treating your parasitic infection.

I suspect your history of liver issues & current discomfort may be caused by a colony of liver flukes and possibly other species of flukes that migrate to organs & systems in the genitourinary & gastrointestinal tracts.
Since your liver is impaired & you exhibit no other symptoms of a systemic infection in other areas of your body, suggest you stop taking the Albendazole.
Continue the Praziquantel, as noted in the protocol: 1 dose, 3 times daily, evenly spaced 6 hrs apart for 3 days. Rest liver for 7 days. Repeat this treatment cycle 2 more times. Flukes are very difficult to erradicate, & continued treatment may be necessary.

This is a reply to # 2,161,313thanks ICU, I started my second round of prazi today and was thinking I will skip albendazole for time being. As far as other symptoms go - I was diagnosed w Lyme + babesia and bartonella. I have general inflamation throughout my body and bad tendon/ joint pain. I have horrible pain in my ankle that feels like a sprain but is not. The pain was bad when I started prazi the first time, and within a day the pain was gone, which I found interesting. I'm also experiencing a difference mentally and feel much more level headed. My knees crack/pop hurt (always) and I've experienced a reduction in this as well. I am currently doing Kerri Riveras protocol, so am taking CD daily. Would the NAC interfere with this? Thanks so much for all your info. I'm wondering, could Tapeworm cause any of my listed problems (including liver/fevers etc.)? I have wondered abt that bc when I was very sick I had severe food cravings, which seem to be much different (improved)after taking prazi. Would love your input.

Highly recommend NAC & Milk Thistle in your case. They heal impaired liver functioning & assist the immune system in reduciing the inflammatory response to infections -- which are big issues when treating flukes.

This is a reply to # 2,163,107I started with real tablets, and am now making tablets with koi powder. I ordered from noble drugs originally but they haven't been shipping for the last month. If you know a different source please pm me, that would be a huge help! How many 3 day cycles do you recommend and how long should I rest in between? Thanks again for all the information and help.

For your fluke infection, suggest you take Praziquantel, 3 doses each day, 6-7 hrs apart, for 3 days, rest 4 days, & repeat.
Since you're unable to take Albendazole currently due to liver issues, this will drag out the treatment quite a bit, especially the systemic/synergistic effects that Albendazole provides.
If your infection is severe and/or you have more than one type of fluke, you may have to do 4 to 6 cycles of Praziquantel, so stock up on your meds arsenal.

Hi,
I have had bouts of liver problems/ pancreatitis/ severe abdominal pain. liver alt/ ast go into 600's coupled at times with high fever's and nausea. Once pancreas enzymes were in the 1000's.
After multiple hospital stays and no diagnosis I was finally diagnosed with Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction. And told to get an ERCP.
I did have lyme disease and was treated for that, and since treatment my bouts of pain etc have decreased.
But since my liver was not in line with lyme disease I researched and concluded liver flukes or worms, blocking my liver/pancreatic ducts, thus causing sever pain etc. I wasnt convinced I had SOD dysfunction.
My point: I have taken praziquantel twice, both the recommended dosage posted frequently on curezone. Last week for the first time in about 6 months, I landed in the ER again with another attack and liver enzymes in the 100's, like I expected they want me to do an ERCP. But they are not sure if I really have SOD.
Im wondering if its harmful to take Praziquantel again. Or at this point, if it even makes sense. The last round I did was OCt 2014. Since the first round in March 2014, my pain attacks greatly decreased. But I dont know if this is coincidence bc that was around the time my Lyme disease got much better.
Has anyone had similar experiences, or know how safe Praziquantel is for someone with bouts of hepatitis/pancreatitis. I really would love to treat this on my own before accepting the risk of ERCP and possible failure by western medicine. ps- of course doctors will not consider parasitic involvement. I also dont want parasites to become immune to prazi due to infrequent usage.
Hope this wasnt too scrambled. Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

I'm still waiting on my albenzadol which I ordered from India.
The prazi info says that joint pain is a "major side effect" that needs medical attention.
