Triphala is an extremely mild supplement that is made from three fruits, it very gently causes the bowels to move food through your intestine. It is not a 'stimulant' for the adrenals or any other part of the endocrine system; the only part of the body that is stimulates is the digestive tract. You mentioned that you didn't feel well after taking it, can you describe your symptoms when you took it? Triphala is an ayurvedic herb that combines three fruits to pacify all three doshas. If you know which dosha you want to remove, then you can use the specific component to remove that particular dosha. I use amla to remove excess pitta (actually what I am really trying to remove is rajas), I use the powder to make a tea at night and it always keeps me regular but then again I'm not really constipated. Generally triphala is considered safe to take in higher doses and the only known side effect is diarrhea if you take too much, however larger doses shouldn't be taken for an extended time, small doses are okay to take as long as you want. Banyan Botanicals is the only herb company I trust 100% for ayurvedic herbs, there are other good companies, many I wouldn't trust at all.
