Sounds like you may have Thyroid issues based on what you said about not doing well on the brassicas and your body heat issues. I recently discovered I was eating WAY too many of these brasiccas as well and was having symptoms. I agree that it's hard to eat what vegetables are left but my NB practitioner gave me good advice: make sure I rotate my veggies, so maybe eating brasiccas here and there is ok as long as it's not everyday....or are you unable to eat them at all?
Yes, I most definitely have thyroid problems. It seems to run in my family as well. Right before my problems started I was on 25 micrograms of synthroid and felt ubelievably good for about 3 months. Then I went out drinking and have been suffering a 25 year hangover since.
Do you take any digestive enzymes? Those may help when eating meat. GB-3 is the one ARL recommends.
I have the gb3, still experimenting with it. I don't have problems digesting meat. It's sort of the opposite, I digest meat perfectly and have perfect BM with a meat diet, but the past 4-5 years or so it just makes me fat. I've had to cut down more and more on the quantity of animal protein so I don't get fat. When my problems started it was the opposite, I could eat 3 giant steaks per day and keep trim.
I'm going to try 3x3 gb to see if that helps.
You must be a slow oxidizer. Some of the ARL supps will help with that such as the Megapan. Once your metabolism picks up you will probably be able to eat meat better.
Nope, fast oxidizer.
I only have one BM per day and am ok with that. Are you really considered constipated if you don't go 3 or 4x per day?
MY constipation isn't normal. Even if I go 4x per day, which is about my ideal, I still feel constipated. And to go that much I have to eat tons of fat or slimy food like yogurt.
My small intestine is/was in about as bad shape as I think could be possible since I've been passing mucoid plaque from there for over 2 decades. I know this sounds insane but the stuff that comes out of me has no relation to what goes in. I can clear out my gut with a laxative, feel totally empty, then I'll have a normal BM later from stuff coming off the intestine wall. If all I had to do was process the food I'm eating now I would able to run marathons. All this stuff coming out of me is so toxic, probably with heavy metals and all manner of nasty pathogens.
Plus I have constant inflammation and gas in my colon that never moves, so that contributes to the feeling of constipation.
That's my main problem with the diet. Most of what I eat is just to keep things moving through me. But I haven't really found any diet that works for me all the way around - just compromises. I need a certain amount of protein, but very little, tons of fat, but it is totally disgusting to eat as much fat as my body needs, and more and more carbs it seems since protein and fat can't be staples for me.
I haven't read too many stories of people here yet but it seems like most people are newish to paleo. I was doing that diet 25 years ago and thought it was going to be that way for life. About 5 years ago my metabolism started switching around to want more carbs, and I didn't realize this at the time because I had done so well with paleo for a long time previously.
So I'm stuck in this 4 lows thing for god knows how long. The thing is life is not terrible as it was when I was first sick, but the killer for me now is the stagnation. I can't seem to bust through to any new level no matter what I try.
I have a feeling that the SBF is very good for me, been taking it regularly now. I'm going to up my limcomin to 2 then 3x3. Renamide feels like it is toxic for me somehow.
Also going to try eating meat more frequently, but less quantity. It's so strange that my body needs like 1-2 bites of protein. I am so used to sitting down to a giant steak or half a chicken - maybe time to readjust my patterns. The vegetables thing is not working out for me because I just get sick of the monotony. But I do well on onions, spinach, some carrots. I got horribly sick from broccoli last time I had it, but it could have been some sort of bug.
The salt thing makes matters even more complicated. On the one had salt feels like it is strengthening my adrenals, but it also makes me feel too hot. So I'm going back and forth with salt in order to keep cool. I'm dreading the summer because every symptom gets 100x worse for me.
edit: It's been on my mind recently to try thyroid glandular or armor again. SBF has parathyroid but not thyroid in it.
