i fast almost everyday, a form of *intermittent fasting, in which I eat in the evening, or during a five hour window- and not until the next evening...could never have imagined this, until after a few longish wfasts.
Some people do very well with one on and one day off food. That's a more pure *IF. I think this would suit me also, esp. in the summer.
I don't agree with the idea/worry of malnutrution and deficiencies after two days or so of Wfasting... However, this is where a type of intermittent fasting might be actually damaging.
With wfasting, one switches over into ketosis, after three days--so, the body then goes into sparing and re-using mode. So, a
Water Fast can be very healing- and not depleting, while too much intermittent wfasting, (which CAN veer into anorexia-)if the reserves are already low, would in fact be depleting.
In essence, I think a two-three week wfast can probably do a lot toward fixing "leaky gut". ESP when followed by a good plant-based diet, as a lifestyle, not a diet. With good fats. (eg. not a "low-fat vegan" diet, which can be sorely lacking, as well as excessive in some aspects.
