HV, what are your thoughts on the Iodine upload test where you take a iodoral tablet then collect urine for 24 hrs.
The test has never been proven to be accurate and is still quite controversial. Personally I don't see how it can be accurate considering the number of variables. For example, extra iodine from the diet, exposure to halogens that would push the iodine out of the system, losses of iodine through other sources such as sweat.....
And knowing that chemical based iodine is not great for you would that one tablet be harmful?
Not likely. The biggest risk with iodine is supplementing on a regular basis with above normal levels, which can lead to problems such as both hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism.
Also what do you think of the 24hr saliva adrenal test?
Saliva testing is highly inaccurate.
Thanks.
Can you also give opinions on this product?

It's pretty good. Looks like they are covering the bases well. The one thing I would have changed though if I were designing it would have been I would have left the guggul out. It is great for the thyroid, but again as a pure resin can be hard on the kidneys. With their recommended dose of once daily this is not much of an issue. But herbs are best split up through the day. Otherwise you get peaks for a short time then drops rather than a maintaining of some type of level in the body.
And what would be a good dosage for someone with a 2.56 TSH, optimal T3 and normal T4?
Why are you wanting to take a thyroid supplement like this with normal lab values? If you are simply doing this as a maintenance then I recommend one tablet once a day.
I had a TSH test come back high... it was a fasting test and it was first thing in the morning.
It was 6.14 and then I had two subsequent non-fasting TSH test and both were in the 2.5-2.6 range.
This is one of the reasons I prefer not to rely to heavily on lab tests. They tend to not be very accurate.
Being that two are showing normal I would say that the diagnosis of hyperthyroidism is incorrect, especially if there is no symptoms indicating hyperthyroidism.
I also had slightly high cholesterol...
Cholesterol testing is not accurate. Something as basic as stress or caffeine before the tests can raise levels.
but I altered my diet and already lost 10 pounds and have been taking krill oil and TMG.
Chol 233
Trig 264
HDL 38
LDL direct 152
Chol/HDL 6.13*Normal
Ldl Direct/HDL 4.00*Normal
The first MD who ordered the fasting blood test of 6.12 and the cholesterol diagnosed me as hpyoT and wanted to put me on Levothyroxine.. but I didn't feel comfortable and looked for another MD and that's when I had the two non-fasting TSH tests.. the T3 and T4 tests with the TSH2.55 and TSH 2.6 optimal T3 and normal T4 tests.
The first doctor should have not wanted to put you on thyroid medication anyway just based on the lab test, especially one reading. Doctors should also be taking in to consideration symptoms as well.
I think essentially the root of the problem are my adrenals. Have had lots of stress in the past 3 years and a few surgeries.

It looks pretty good. Has a lot of my favorite herbs in it.
Would a good dosage be 1 tablet 2 or 3 times a day for adrenal fatigue?
I recommend 2 tablets 3 times daily on an empty stomach.
Also out of curiosity why is it that so many alternative healers sell these biotics supplements? i've seen them at 3 different practitioners offices.
More than likely their sales rep is targeting practitioners since there is so much competition in the health food stores.
Whats a good way to find a good practitioner I can trust in my town? Any tips?
All you can really do is get recommendations from people you trust and hope for the best.
