Hi #153384,
Congratulations on choosing this road to renewed health. One of the benefits of water-only fasting is that it can help us reduce unwanted weight but it does this as part of the process of rejuvenating the health of the body. What you may see as burning off unwanted fat is a byproduct of the body living off the fat reserves while cleaning up the bloodstream and various tissues and organs. It's an especially good time for repairing digestive system issues which are virtually impossible to do when food is regularly passing through.
If you go the distance (and I'm sure that you'll do so as long as it's safe,) you'll find that your arteries have been cleared of many years build-up of atherosclerosis, your many organs will have shed calcium crystals and similar deposits, your intestines will have shed hardened waste matter from various nooks and crannies. Once you've regained full strength after a proper, disciplined refeeding program, you'll notice that you feel light as a feather. Running for a bus or just running will be 10 times easier than when your systems were clogged with fatty deposits.
A few caveats:
1) if you burn up the reserve energy being normally active, less will be available for the restoration work that you no doubt need.
2) ingesting substances that are toxic to the body such as coffee, tea, alcohol, soft drinks, etc will continue to burden/damage your organs. The only healthy drinks are pure water and freshly-made fruit juices. Everything else is either toxic to some degree or oxidized to the point of being useless.
3) You should allow for the inevitable loss of energy because sooner or later, the body will choose to devote all available energy to perform some important task and you will suddenly feel completely drained. Don't fight it! Go to bed and give the body a chance to sort itself out.
4) Don't underestimate the negativity of people who won't understand what you're doing. I see that you've already had one doom-merchant posting on your blog. Your best defense against this is the confidence that comes from knowledge but limiting your exposure to it is also a very good idea. Out of sight, out of mind.
Best wishes for your journey!
