I have had acid reflux thru out my life. I didn't have any symptoms in the last 1 1/2 years.
But all of sudden for past 3 weeks I have been suffering with severe acid. It all started with sore throat. I took some herbal tea for sore throat and it went away. But after few days I started having pain in the chest when swallowing food. After a few more days everday by evening, I started having so much acid, I have burning in my throat and chest. It suddenly starts in the evening after dinner. It feels as if something is boiling in my tummy and starts to rise in to my Esophagus. My doctor put me on Zantac 150 mg twice day. He asked me to take it for 2 weeks.
It is very scary as I never had such experience before. I had acid reflux but it used come in the form of belching and it used to go away. It was very minor.
I read some of Hv's posts on Esophagitis here. I am making a tea of Slippery Elm and Licorice root and sipping it thru out the day. My pain in the esophagus is much better.
Acid reflux is so scary that I am eating very less. I lost about 8 pounds of weight in last 10 days. Our diet is mostly Indian Daals and curries with lots of spices(coriander, cumin, mustard seeds, turmeric, garlic, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, red chilli powder etc) but not very spicy.
Any input on what steps I need to take and what sort of diet I should be on?
Being that the onset was so sudden and you are taking ACV for an acid source it makes me wonder if the problem is stemming from a hiatal hernia. Do you get a "catching" feeling at the base of your sternum when you swallow things?
P.s.
My health has improved a lot in the past 1 and 1/2 years after following recommendations from Hv.
That's great to hear, thanks for sharing.
My blood pressure has come down, HDL went up, flatulance, digestion problems are gone.
I was using TMG, Applecider vinegar, Kefir etc. I am still taking Rice bran, Lecithin granules, Fish oil, Sea weed, pumpkin seeds etc.
