Actually, they do mention iodine, near the bottom of page 4. They prefer organic iodine, whereas we prefer inorganic iodine, but there it is.
"One should definitely support the normal functioning of the thyroid, by detoxification, organic iodine, adrenal glandular supplements, and nutritional support...."
>>I am up about every two hours at night to urinate small amounts.
This prevents restful sleep, waking up every two hours. No restful sleep will make your body cold when you're awake.
>>I am tired enough to go to bed by 6-8 p.m., every night, so I do. I sleep until >>about 6 a.m. when I feel almost forced to get up.
Due to waking every 2 hours to pee.
>>My dreams have always had excess activity and conflict; trying to get >>somewhere far away but unable to do so, or escape a bad situation are >>recurrent themes.
Sounds like unresolved issues or emotions also interfere with rest.
Do you take any stimulants, perhaps as part of your supplement regiment?
>>I take a good supply of vitamin/mineral supplements, but I am considering >>taking more selenium and boron. I also take several detoxification and >>digestive supplements.
The Barnes basal temperature method is done first thing in the morning before getting out of bed. Another way to test your temperature is to do oral temperatures during the day, as you've done. If you take them 3, 6, and 9 hours after you get up in the morning and then average those three temps, you'll get a bit more information about what's going on during the entire day. If the average varies by more than 0.2-0.3F day-to-day, your adrenals are probably struggling. Thyroid groups generally recommend either a mercury or Geratherm thermometer, as they've found digital thermometers to be unreliable.
Yes, I've made mine a Geratherm. A little bulky, but I've gotten used to it.
Wow, Paul, I have three Geratherm Mercury-Free Thermometers, and I haven't had a lick of trouble with any of them. I also experimented with their basal thermometer version, and while the numbers were easier to read, when I took it with me in the heat of last summer, it broke. Otherwise, it was very nice. Just better left at home.
But just now, I read some reviews on Amazon, and there were some unhappy people. All I can say is, that was not my experience. If you know that your digital is reliable, you might stick with it. My mother won't give hers up :)
