Potassium is rich in many foods---sodium might be harder to get if you dont eat processed foods.. Sometimes if your high in sodium you might be low in potassium...vica versa ( sodium/potassium pump). Diurectics/laxatives can cause a deficiency of both. Ive had to supplement with sodium in the morning..to try to get my blood pressure up/get me going. If my blood pressure is too high I will supplement with potassium bicarbonate to bring it down. But my blood pressure will usually not be high unless I over did my sodium. Its usually better to supplement with more sodium early in the day, unless your going to work out/sweat and then you do a electrolyte mix.
I dont supplement with the bicarbonates too often because thay can be a little hard on the kidneys.
