I always go back and forth on whether to stop supplementing before testing. But, after giving it some thought, I think it's just as important to know how your body is doing while supplementing as while not supplementing. That's how I found out my cholesterol lipids even out while on pregnenolone. ;)
The hair elements test isn't that expensive (~$100), so you could always do one now and then one later when you feel you're in the clear. More data is better than less data. ;)
Of course, all that being said, doing a hair elements test will give you a snapshot of the past, not necessarily the present. And copper imbalances are tricky to pin down. If copper is really what you want to test for, you'd probably be better off doing blood testing for ceruloplasmin and serum copper than the hair test.
If it were me, I'd just go ahead and do the hair test. ;)
