There is a lot of scare tactics around; especially vit C and
Iodine are in target for this.
I wouldnt worry to much; I took (to) little supplements in my first pregnancy, loads in my second; which resulted in a much easier birth and a healthier baby than the first.
But first and foremost; I recovered easier in my second pregnancy.
I took high dosages of vit B, C, E, minerals, 2 multis. The multis contained 150 mcg of
Iodine each 15 mg of zinc, and I believe this saved me from loads of trouble.
One problem I had when pregnant was all that tried to frighten me when I for instance refused to take massive dosages of iron. When I refused to take cod liver oil, when I refused to take ultrasound etc. They said my babys intelligence would suffer if I didnt take iron and omega 3 (both are top 3 in their class, after
Iodine they went from in the middle to the top, both of them)
No one supported my supplementing except for an acupuncturist I visited. You are pretty much alone in doing this.
I only relied on myself, intuition, and my body`s reaction to things. I would take 3-4 grams of vitamin C, daily, pregnant or not. All animals do; as they produce the ascorbic acid themselves..
