A bit off-topic,
but related to the water fast, since this would be ideal pre-or post water fasting, to build up mineral reserves. Look into ginger, (for anti-inflammation, and all sorts of other good things) kale,(the k is for "king" of greens), celery (but organic only, the non-organic has upwards of 33 (!!)pesticide residues: and that means IN the celery). Dandelion greens for liver cleansing... The bitter are good for liver and gallbladder. The greens that have tough ribs (like the kale)are good for bone-building. I like lots of garlic in my juice, as well as green onions. So then, parsley. (antidotes the garlic smell) Jalapenos. All sorts of greens. Lemon, including the white pith--but not the peel unless it's organic.(If you don't have a good juicer for parsley and kale then making a green sauce or soup is the next best thing, blending it.
Then, what some people do, who like to go further into the realm of Juice Feasting, is add tinctures to their juices. Like milk thistle, or Echinacea(the classic immune booster). For most of us, and esp. anyone with any kind of disease or pathogen, the liver is under stress, often very burdened, so think liver-nourishing. Also, apples. They really are the 'anti-doctor healer': malic acid, for the liver and gallbladder,(dissolving stones), pectin, for the joints, etc. etc.
best, Chiron
Great post Chiron from start to finish. I agree that this is an important topic to cover in a water-only fasting forum since we need to lead into and emerge from our fasts wisely and ideally with juices.
Too bad... I had no idea that Frankenfoods had cornered the market on beets too. I'll have to be extra careful about getting only organics with this crop.
Sad, eh, Sun? Hi,and how are you? Happy Thanksgiving ( Canada) It's about getting more sugar out of them, with less actual minerals/less bother about the soil's state... (You know how the brix refractometer tests the *whole* nutrient profile; with thicker sap/juice being more well-rounded/higher brix? There are ways to fake the brix, and fool some of the people, some of the time.) Always the machine wants more.
>:-(
Hey!!!! new 'smiley'. This one has the tell-tale liver frown lines, which is what happens to people who are loaded with pesticides, etc. Take care, everyone.

Really?! Even if you counter-balance it with ginger and apple?
I have a LOT of garlic, I guess. :-) Maybe more than most people, but I've had to build up to it. I also tend to put a lot in my food. And, I have it in the master tonic, aka Anti-Plague, which sometimes I crave and eat by the spoonful.(this is a 'cure' for cancer, btw.) Leave it out then, if it's too much, nothing is written in stone; these are just ideas -- but, ahem, garlic capsules? This will never have near the goodness of the fresh garlic.
At any rate, do what you can.
