"Unlike two other popular SSRI antidepressants, fluoxetine and sertraline, paroxetine is associated with clinically significant weight gain.[4] Pediatric trials of paroxetine for
Depression did not demonstrate statistical efficacy better than placebo and showed an increase in the risk of harmful outcomes, including episodes of self-harm and suicidal thoughts.[5][6][7]
Discontinuing paroxetine is associated with a high risk of discontinuation or withdrawal syndrome.[8][9]"
ergo good ole wikipedia. Do NOT take paxil, imho.
Although poor serotonin metabolism plays a part in these degenerative diseases that people on curezone seem to have, it is really only one piece of the puzzle.
I was just explaining this to the poor folks on longecity nootropic thread whom are obsessed with racetams and ordering pharmacy atypical trycyclical anti-depressents from canada and japan, which is probably risky.
The brain is poorly understood, and something like an SSRI is very very simple in terms of what it does- you get a simple manipulation of one physical aspect of the brain- and a gigantic snowball effect of unpredictable effects.
Serotonin is arguably the most difficult neurotransmitter to assign a role. The body does such a vast amount of things with it, in different ways, manipulating it is down right stupid. Even the concept of "neurotransmitter deficiency" is flawed. More likely, specific "parts" of the brain are not acting correctly, hence its ALL the brain chemistry, and not just serotonin, gone wrong in that part of the brain, and yet - the doctor because he is being paid by pharma reps, and trying to get his career going, with personal references, and such, is using YOU as his
Science experiment for his personal statistical analysis.
Have you gotten a thorough hair metal analysis, have you read barefoot herbalist's book 1?
SSRI's are the worst of the worst, and yes they CAN work in instances, and that is the danger. If the medical profession see that it is working, they manipulate and interpret that data AGAINST you. It only works indirectly because the denegerative nature of these
Chronic-Fatigue-Syndrome like conditions cause so many gut-brain IBS/neurological problems.
Serotonin is essentially the main gut-brain neurotransmitter. It is fairly well proven that opioids, analgesics, and SSRI's can reduce the spasms of the gut. That does NOT adress what is causing the spasms.
And in our case it has surely got to be either one of a few things
Infectious undiagnosed disease, environmental toxin causing mineral imbalances, neurological damage (caused probably by the first two)
I want to explain this in detail to you and other readers because people think one of two things
1) listen to the doctor and take the bad pills
2) juice, fast, cleanse and expect to get better
Rhyme, reason, and
Science are still what matter, and frankly, it is not the
Science behind Paxil that makes it bad it is the USE and DISTORTION of that science.
I would reccommend looking into essential oils, frankincense gum resin, schizandra berry, and other supplements that can mimic serotonin type action.
5-HTP and bacopa are probably two of the better known serotonin modulating supplements. It would be great to see if other people knew more about this subject in the manner I have brought up. I read pharmacological papers over the neurochemistry effects of these herbs periodically.
