Whats interesting is for me certain sweetners(honey, agave, maple syrup, molasses, fruit sugar) can make me bloated right away-- but refined/processed sugar, corn syrup will not make me bloated. Its almost like the candida prefers the more natural unprocessed sugars. Probably has to do with how the processed sugars are much more acid forming than the unprocessed sugars. Might have something to do with it.
According to a extract from med gov adding a 2% solution of glucose to a meal helps to reduce candida to turn fungal. But this experiment was done in a laboratory, so who knows how the result is in the human body. Each individual might be different
For me a little refined sugar every now and then doesnt seem to cause any bloating/flare ups. Corn syrup/high fructose corn syrup I avoid because of the way it causes inflammation in the body and other bad reports on it.
Good point . I remember reading some where that fructose is harder to break down than other sugars.
I tried starving candida by eating nothing but fish/oils and it worked for about 2 months and then it seemed like the candida figured out how to ferment protein into ammonia and was causing me alot of Gi inflammation. Seems like ammonia causes much more inflammation then when it ferments sugars.
Be careful a lot of store cookies have a lot of other junk in them. If too much sugar is ingested at one time that can mean left overs for bad microbes. We might be able to get away with some refined sugar if it is metabolized quickly. If you start to get excessive itching, bloating, flare ups etcc than it is feeding the bad microbes.
