He says 3 grams a day TO START is a good therapeutic dose!!! He said you can take as much as you want because you probably eat more than that on your pizza! Makes sense, it IS food after all!
Actually that is misleading. Not all mushrooms are the same. The button mushrooms they put on pizzas are worthless as medicine since they have virtually no immune stimulating polysaccharides. It is like comparing bottled water to toilet water and saying they are just as good since they are both water.
Any reasons to be careful with it? Any issues with hormones or possible autoimmunity?
Thanks ... I was thinking it might help with immunity, energy and vitality. I'll probably 'give them a go' and see if I notice anything. Or perhaps taking beta glucans would be a more direct approach.
Beta glucans are simply immune stimulating polysaccharides with a fancy name so they can make it sound exotic and charge more. You can obtain beta glucans from nutritional yeast and oats to name a few. And other immune stimulating polysaccharides can be found in numerous plants such as seaweeds, most mushrooms, myrrh, astragalus, aloe, echinacea, birch, etc.
Was watching Dr. Richard Becker's show, Your Health, yesterday about cordyceps mushrooms and was amazed at how beneficial they are!
I'm just wondering the best way to take them and how much to take? Of course, Dr. Becker does sell a beneficial mushroom complex.
Any thoughts on this?
Eating it while still on the caterpillar would give you a lot of extra protein.
Cordyceps sinensis is a great fungi. It can help with energy, immunity, blood sugar, etc. There has actually been a tremendous amount of research done on this fungi.
Most people in the US prefer to take it in capsule form. I would recommend 2 capsules three times daily. If you can find it in bulk though this is really the way to go since mushrooms can get quite expensive.
I finally found some at vitacost, where I do most of my supplement shopping. I got NSI MGC-5™ Mushroom Complex -- 1,100 mg per serving - 60 Capsules for $20.
