Epsom Salt not for internal use?

I went to the store today to get the Epsom Salts but all they have is not for internal use, external only! Where do I find one you can take internally or is this the one people are using? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!- Re: Epsom Salt not for internal use? JohnnySmith

MoreThis is a reply to # 175,509You should be able to safely ignore not for internal consumption warning. There is no seperate type of Epsom Salt for internal use vs external use. It is all Epsom Salt derived the same way. I have not heard or read anyone dieing from internally consuming Epsom Salts . After using Epsom Salts for three liver flushes, I am still alive and kicking as are many flushers who have taken the recommened amount of Epsom Salts in water over the course of as many as 20+ flushes. Hey, Epsom salts can facilitate healthier growth in plants, so they cannot be all that bad.

MoreThis is a reply to # 175,513The statement you made about the plants is incorrect. Just because it is a good substance to use on plants had no bearing on it's application to humans. Plants thrive in chemicals that are extremely toxic to humans(why would we all be working so hard to be organic). There are fertilizers out there that if applied to skin will cause a caustic burn. Not trying to be hateful, but some people read these threads as fact.

This is a reply to # 175,528You make a good point and that makes sense. However, I am unaware of any case where Epsom Salts have inflicted damage on a human being. There are people that have successfully completed as many as 80+ flushes using Epsom Salts as per of the Liver Flush Protocol. You say that just because something is beneficial for plants does not mean that it is not toxic for humans. Yes, you are right. But this does not appear the case for Epsom Salts . Epsom salts that appear to be beneficial for plants have not been found to be harmful to humans. Not trying to be hateful, but pointing out an established fact.

This is a reply to # 175,509I asked a chemist last week.
Here we do have two grades("garden centre" and pharmaceutical)....it's the same stuff just the pharmaceutical is a bit finer in consistency therefore easier to dissolve.
Does the ES you saw specifically say "not for internal use??". If so, you probably need to speak to an actual chemist/phamacist in the store to clear it up.

This is a reply to # 175,509If it says usp or 99.5% pure or greater it is what you are looking for. It is generally not recommended for internal use for the particular marketing plan of the company or for liability purposes. Usp is free of contaminants. Most Epsom Salt is manufactured by one of several companies and distributed to those who may package it for differing uses.

This is a reply to # 175,509As this is a health conscious site it is normal to promote the use of substances that are as pure as possible.
The Epsom Salts you are looking for should be 100% pure. If you live in the States or the UK you shouldn't have any problems getting it. It should clearly state that it is 100% pure Magnesium Sulphate ( Epsom Salts ), that it is for internal use, a laxative or something similar.
Note: there is a spelling difference and sulphate can be spelt with "ph" or "f".
Something like this:
The contaminants that you find in less that 100% pure Epsom Salts include arsenic and iron.

This is a reply to # 175,561Hi, I live in Canada too. I was using regular Epsom Salts and have not come across a package that specifies 100% purity. I have searched far and wide. However, I know that Shopper's Drug Mart sells "seperate" Epsom Salts in their laxatives section. You get considerably less and it is more pricy. However, I think it is probably the safest bet with respect to purity. I am going to switch to these Epsom Salts , only because it concerns me if the cheaper Epsom salts may contain toxic contaminants like Arsenic.

This is a reply to # 175,569I picked up a couple of bottles at $3.49 a pop. The total was $7.96(including Taxes). Each bottle contains 250g of Epsom Salts . The bottle states "Laxative/purgative for relief of occasional constipation," so I am assuming that it is likely contaminant free as it has been bottled for internal consumption. The brand name is Rougier (www.rougier.com). The DIN number is 00485853. This may be useful if you want to phone Shopper's Drug Mart ahead of time to see if they stock it. I don't know if all the Shopper's Drug Mart's carry it. At lunch time, I took a walk to a Shopper's Drug Mart close to my workplace to purchase some as I assumed if one Shopper'd Drug Mart carried it, then every Shopper's Drug Mart would carry it. Much to my surprise The Shopper's by my workplace no longer carried these and I had to purchase from a Shopper's next to my home. Hope this info helps those residing in Canada who are trying to locate a pure form of Epsom Salts for their flusn.

This is a reply to # 175,561You appear to have a good lead from JonnySmith on where to buy some Epsom Salts . Canada is one of the largest suppliers in the world. It may also be worth having a Look on Canadian Ebay to see if there is a supplier listed in Canada.
FYI - Here is a scan from the reverse of my packet showing 100%.

I'm so glad to see your message. I'm in exxactly the same position. I would like to do a liver cleanse but I just don't know how. All the Epsom Salts seem to be for external use and all the people i've asked who are selling them don't know anything about them and can't tell me if they can be taken internally. And the worst thing is i've tried a few and they all seem to have been made with alcohol, Sugar or dextrose or yeast which I can't do. If you get lucky with this answer. Would you pls be so kind to let me know where you'll be buying yours so that I can check it out as well. I would be ever so grateful.

This is a reply to # 175,509Not knowing if you live in the US or not, I do and I buy Epsom Salts at Walmart, Walgreens.......any store sells it. Today I found it in the garden section since the spring flowers are coming out and people use it for their plants. I always buy a big bag of it because I use it for a lot of things. As far as I know, it is all the same. I even take 1/2 teaspoon every day.
