LoricaLady's and MENODMAID's responses are extremely out of character compared to their hundreds of previous posts. None of the usual "everyone has parasites" and "try this flush".
Metametrix is notorious for performing fringe testing such as
parasite DNA on stool and saliva specimens which have little corroborating scientific evidence for validation thus far. Seems
parasite DNA testing, which a very few labs offer, is currently operating under an hypothesis without much requisite supporting data. There is some scientific research ongoing in this field but it's really in the early stages. Much more research is necessary as questions have come up about whether the DNA probes utilized in this very young technology have effective sensitivity and specificity in humans for so many different parasites. I've seen these reports from Metametrix and they appear to rely heavily on some sort of fuzzy logic. I'm not even sure what they use for controls or if they participate in any kind of independent blinded quality testing to verify that their assays are correct! Typically, a new testing protocol such as this is not considered reliable and accepted as efficacious without significant volumes of supporting research over time. No wonder most physicians consider this type of DNA testing dubious and won't touch it, the tests are principally ordered by alternative practitioners. Metametrix is actually licensed and accredited and does perform a standard menu of long proven lab tests but I’ll bet this DNA for
parasites is real CAM cash cow! BTW, I don't work for a competing laboratory.
Hulda Clark recommended
parasite tests? I thought her mantra was that everyone has flukes anyway - Why test for parasites?
And.. "A local ND uses muscle testing for
parasites - she says it is about 80% accurate." Sounds incredibly anecdotal to me! Rigorous scientific testing of applied kinesiology has ever produced any analysis that indicates that anything can be diagnosed via AK. Most NDs use it for assessing the nutritional status of their clients although I can't think of any plausible physiological mechanism involved. I wonder how NDs verify supposed nutrient deficiencies identified by AK with real lab tests?
