Hi Paul,
Regarding the decision, I believe it is one of contributing factors (besides the nutritional support and diet change I am taking). But whether the reckless sleep is result of AF or one of the symptoms, I can't tell for you. For me, since I am already tested for high mercury and arsenic, I noticed that having nightmare is one of the symptoms of mercury poisoning, since mercury is one of the most dangerous neurotoxin. You may want to check whether you have heavy metal toxin in your body or mineral imbalance (doesn't have to be mercury, can be others like aluminum, lead, titanium, etc.)
As much as I appreciate the role of meditation and psychological perspective (I do pray asking God to let me have a dreamless sleep; for me not having any dream is a bliss, since the dreams I am having if it's not frightening then it's weird), I realized that the toxin has the possibility to 'hijack' our neuron system and affect us emotionally: brain fog, depression, anxiety, suicidal, up to nightmares and reckless sleep. When that happened, I always tried to remind myself that it is not 'me' per se, it's just one of the awful effect of toxicity. Not easy, since most of people 'beat' themselves up of why they are feeling that bad and not having the 'right/positive' attitude (I know I did when the things went awful). It's part of my realization that if your body is in total wreck, all those 'positive' affirmation has their limitation. Accepting this liberated me so much... I am less stressful and it certainly help me to deal with AF.
The same thing applies with trying to push yourself to follow any sleep or diet guidance for AF. It supposed to be guide, not requirement. When you are stressed out in regards of sleeping/eating, it add to your stress load. Being slowly adjusting and let your body have its ways of healing is much better. What important is that you know what is the purpose of all those guidance: you get enough rest and right nutrition to help your body recover.
FYI, I have better sleep now (can get into deep sleep, previously can't), less weird dreams (occasionally now, previously almost every time I sleep-nap or at night), and less waking up early around 4. It still happened sometimes, but not as often as before. I take this as a good progress.
Hope this help,
