Hi. I need help! It's now May 2017 and, since November, I've been battling what I first thought was pinworms. (How I got them, I have no idea. Have not been around kids.) But maybe it's hookworm? Or something else entirely? I've got all the classic signs of some kind of worm. I saw a doctor who prescribed Mebendazole. When I went to the pharmacy, I found it was about $2,000 for 3 tablets. Insane. Since then, I have gotten it in Canada, and also online. To make a long story short, Mebendazole does seem to have the effect of stopping or greatly suppressing the "squriming" and itching sensation that is so awful. But as soon as I stop the drug, it immediately returns. I've done about 15 rounds of Mebendazole. I also have been self-administering Ivervectin and Praziquantel (from horse de-worming medication!) This also seems to work...until I stop. At that point, the sensations return within a few days. I have become like Sherlock Holmes examining stools. I do see little white worms there, and in the toilet water. They tend to be small and white, like a slightly curved chip of fingernail.
At times, a longer one will show up in the water, like a thread. (Thread worm?) I examine these things under a magnifying glass, but cannot seem to confirm 100% which
parasite I am looking at. Also, it feels like these things are working into my vagina sometimes. Crawling senation all over my perineum, and slight crawling sensation on the rest of my body after a few days without medicine. I clean like crazy. Laundry, bleaching, etc. Rubbing alcohol on my private area stops the crawling senation temporarily.
I have GOT to figure this out. My health insurance cost is sky high! And I know the doc will probably prescribe Mebendazole/Albendazole, which I know does work, but only temporarily. HELP!
